The updated rankings come after scouting at various club events as well as the high school season. The national rankings will be updated shortly. Learn more about the PrepSoccer scouting process here.
For the state rankings, we use a player’s club team home field as the state. There are players who play high school soccer in other states in the Ohio rankings, but their club teams are based in Ohio.
Below is a scouting report on 24 of the players in either the rankings or the Watch List for this update.
rnForward/Midfielder
rnPart of the Girls Academy Talent ID and US Soccer Regional ID. Dynamic player. Strong lower body, easily withstands tackles. Runs at defenders at pace. Puts players on their heels immediately. Good skill. Quick feet. Can finish in traffic. High engine player.
rnDefender/Midfielder
rnPlug-and-play type of player. She could play anywhere on the field and do her job extremely well. Competitive player who is going to battle to the final whistle. She has the mentality to make an impact early on at the next level.
Capable of providing moments of magic against the best defenders in the country. At her best when she has the ball at her feet with only one defender left to beat toward goal. She is a long striding winger who can cut on a dime.
Left winger. Very good in duels. Quick twitch. Good at creating small space to get off a cross.
rnCenter back. Left. Right-footed.
rnECNL National Selection Game in Florida. Clearly used to play a more advanced position. Loves to step forward and up a level. Silky smooth on the ball. Excellent vision. She would’ve been an incredible stopper in the old-style of the game.
rnAttacking midfielder. Forward
rnShe is just toying with defenders in this game – heel flicks, megs – she is putting on a clinic. Uses both feet pretty well. Haven’t seen Knapp play in nearly a year. Very impressed with the physical side of her game. She is using her body and strength to bully players. She is ready to play against older competition.
rn
rnLeft back. Left-footed.
rnSurprisingly, left-footed left backs are actually somewhat rare in most states, but Ohio seems to be an exception. There is some depth, but Fragnoli should be considered among the best in the position. Her best attribute is her 1v1 defending when she has a winger faced away from goal. When she is touch-tight with a player, she wins the duel almost every time. She is good at corralling the player and timing the toe-poke to dispossess the opposition. She is also clean in possession. I saw her play on a less-than-ideal playing surface and she did not have a bad touch all game. One aspect of her game to improve would be slide tackles. She seemed reluctant to go to ground (perhaps because it was frozen) but it did seem like the opportunity was there for her in the open field while defending.
rnMidfielder
rnDefensive midfielder. Right footed. Excellent passer. Deep-laying playmaker. Does a really good job of demonstrating for her teammates with her hand to show where to pass the ball. Defensively, she is good in the tackle and smart in her positioning. Takes penalty kicks for her club team.
rn
rnMidfielder/Forward
rnAttacking midfielder. Exciting player to watch. Playmaker from the center of the field. Silky smooth on the ball. Can play out of trouble in the build-up. Comfortable in tight spaces. Good vision. Recently been a top finisher around the box. Should be one to watch from this class.
rnGoalkeeper
rnIncredible kick save against Internationals. Very athletic. She is quick off her line. One of her best attributes is her quality in breakaways – would be a good fit for a team that likes to play a high line. At the next level, she needs to do a better job of securing the save and not spilling rebounds in front of goal.
rnCenter back. Right. Right-footed.
rnECNL All-Conference Selection in 2022. Fetterman is the type of center back that is a four-year starter at the college level. She is a leader on the field and a favorite of every coach. Internationals likes to play at a high pace with a suffocating press that takes away most of the field from the opposition. It’s not an easy style of player for a center back. Fetterman has to be smart about when she steps because she is often the last defender. She is intelligent and reads the game well. She is a strong tackler and rarely puts a foot wrong. After watching a few of her games from this campaign, it’s obvious that she has great vision and can find a key pass quickly. She hit the turf before the ball when trying to complete a long pass. Improving her distribution will take her player profile from a conference standout to a national level prospect.
rnMidfielder
rnHigh School All-American. She is the best offensive minded two-way midfielder I’ve seen in some time. She is a fierce competitor with a bite in her tackles. She is skillful and quick. Mesmerizing to watch on the counter. She has been prolific around goal at both the high school and club level – so easy to see why most scouts view her as a No. 10 in the future. I think she’s the perfect No. 8 for the right program, but she might take too many touches to really shine in that role. Seems like she is a little under the radar at this point because her club team’s struggled in ECNL play at the start of the campaign, but she is a BIG TIME prospect from the 2025 class.
rnDefender/Midfielder
rnLeft back. Left-footed. There are a handful of very good left backs in this class. It’s a surprisingly strong position for Ohio in 2025. I don’t think there is a wrong answer for which one is best among that top group – it has more to do with style of play. Maxwell impressed with her two-way game. She is a flyer on the wing. She can get up and down the touchline. She uses her pace to get to the end line and delivers a good cross on the move.
rnForward
rnMounce is on the watch list with this update because I think she is bound for another sport at the college level. She is one of the top sophomores in Ohio on the basketball court. But she did earn all-state recognition in soccer as well. If some college could convince her to play soccer in the fall and basketball in the winter, I believe she could do it. She is the best finisher I saw on tape from this class.
rnForward
rnStrength, speed, finishing. All of the tools to be an elite prospect at the center forward position. Super high ceiling in terms of her potential. Small areas that could be refined in the short-term, but a player that should be on the radar for programs in the Midwest.
rnDefender. Center back.
rnIdeal prospect for a left center back role in a back three. Comfortable on the ball. Willing dribbler to shuttle the ball up a level. Doesn’t force things in possession. Light on her feet and moves well side to side. Not the tallest player on the field, but does not back down from a challenge. Starting role with the Internationals 06 squad.
rnGoalkeeper
rnAggressive off her line. Confident with her hands, will grab the ball in traffic. Strong technical foundation for the position. Catches the ball cleanly. Been called into the US Youth National Team Regional ID events. Part of the Panama National Team program.
Highlights
rnForward
rnCenter forward. Quick. Right-footed. Strikes the ball well. She didn’t see much of the ball in the games that I saw, but she worked non-stop defensively and had a good attitude – head never dropped in frustration. Would be a good fit as a pressing forward on an island.
rnClaire Mikola
rnDefender
rnLeft back. Right-footed. Good recovery speed. Comfortable on the ball. Could afford to be more aggressive defensively. Plays off the attacker with space, but has the athletic quality to get into the jersey and be more physical. Has the qualities to be a special talent for the position. She showed the potential against Internationals earlier this season to shutdown one of the best 2024s in the country.
rnForward
rnOpportunistic finisher. Gets into the right spots with her movement. Showed that she can produce against top level talent in the Girls Academy Champions Cup Championship.
rnDefender. Center back. Outside back.
rnPlays the position like a professional. Consistent, solid approach. Doesn’t make big plays, constantly makes winning plays. Good on the ball. Showed that she can organize a defense really well in the Girls Academy Talent ID events. Can play outside back too. Like many on CUP, versatile player who can fill in a few roles.
rn
rnDefender/Midfielder
rnVersatile player from CUP 07. Seen her play in the midfielder and at left back. She looks to be right footed, but comfortable on either foot. She is a strong 1v1 defender. Likes to get forward. Can hit a good cross.
rnMidfielder. Attacking.
rnSkillful on the ball. Clever passer. Pretty good finisher for the position. She strikes the ball really well.
Highlights
rnGoalkeeper
rnConfident off her line. Good with her feet. Didn’t see her make many saves from game film. Her highlight reel shows that she prefers to punch than catch in traffic. Pretty athletic shot-stopper.
