There are quite a few players who live in Southern Illinois, but play for clubs in Missouri so those players will be included in that state ranking. The updated state rankings are also our latest rankings – this is why a player might be higher in the current national ranking but lower in the state ranking. The national ranking will be updated later this month.
Check out a scouting report on a handful of players from the Illinois 2025 rankings below.
Midfielder. Stud. Box-to-box midfielder. Good on the ball. Quality passer with either foot. Strong in the tackle. Sharp with her movements. Game looks easy to her. She glides around the field. She is an impactful player at the youth level. Should be an early target for the top programs in the region.
Highlights
Multi-sport star. Right center back. Good defender. Strong in tackle. Uses her body well. Moves laterally well. Doesn’t get caught square. Matches up well with quick forwards because she has quick feet and doesn’t get caught on her heels. Lots of strong defensive qualities. She is calm on the ball and doesn’t force things. She makes some runs forward when the space is there. She has the athleticism to be an elite outside back too.
Highlights
Center back. Poretto has been a bright spot in the ECNL this season. She earned the attention of scouts with an Alice in the ECNL National Selection Game in February. The Eclipse center back is a talented passer. She can drill a pass over 40 yards with either foot. Her composure on the ball and her vision make her a weapon for her side in possession. Defensively, she is a strong on-ball defender. She will battle with center forwards. Her best attribute might be her quality in aerial duels. She is a top prospect on set pieces – defensively as well as a target on offense. Poretto is a top center back from this class in Illinois.
Highlights
Center back (left). Left footed. Good on the ball. Comfortable to play out of pressure, keeps the ball moving from side to side quickly. Strong passer with her right foot as well. Didn’t see her have to defend much, but she organized her defense. Looked like the target on set pieces for her team.
Wide midfielder/winger. Always wins her duels. She has a good first step with quick burst and good body control to withstand challenges. Good decision-maker when at full speed. Does well in defending as she closes space quickly and has the foot speed to poke the ball away from players. She doesn’t quit on players either – will chase down long balls and track back. Her twin Ryann Law is also a standout in the attack. Saw her play at center forward. She was good at punishing the defense with her pace.
Highlights
Center back. Another standout center back in this class. The depth at this position is impressive, but all of the ranked players are athletic enough to move to an outside back role. Isaacson showed off incredible recovery speed and competitiveness with her play at the club level. I saw her play as a right center back and no one got past her. She is a very good defender when man-marking. She can shut down the top players in the state when matched up against them.
