The best players from the Coastal Canyon League and the Marmonte League faced off on March 17 in what was the first annual Boys All-Star game between the two leagues.
The game was played at Oak Park High with the Coastal Canyon League topping Marmonte 3-1.
Tyler Nagel Tyler Nagel M CA of Camarillo High was one of the goal scorers, while the home crowd got to be entertained by two goals from Oak Park High players Ryan O’Leary and Zack Harris. Harris also contributed an assist.
O’Leary and Nagel were chosen as the Men of the Match.
Justin Sosa Justin Sosa F CA from Agoura High scored the goal for the Marmonte League and he was assisted by Ara Gyuloglyan of Westlake High School.
The event, overall, went off without a hitch and will hopefully in time lead to a broader inclusion of talent.
“Organizing this game was the first step towards a true Ventura County Cup among all the high schools in Ventura County, which would be one step closer to an All-LA City Section v. Ventura County All-Star game.”
The game also featured three players to be selected as All-CIF Southern Section players, including Harris and Sosa, as well as Sosa’s teammate Mathew LeValley. Sosa and LeValley were selected to the Division II team, Harris to Division I.
