This is a list of incredibly talented players, some overlooked, some choosing to attend college as a student and have a traditional college experience.
KEEPER: Nic Thiele of Bellarmine Prep claims this spot as he is a UC San Diego commit, and beyond that had a fabulous season, especially the latter half as he helped keep nine clean sheets after the New Year and was selected as the Keeper of the Year in the West Catholic Athletic League.
DEFENDERS: Reiji Susuki was selected as the Defender of the Year in the WCAL as helped Archbishop Mitty to a special season, while Lucas Pfister was the heartbeat for De La Salle, this year and in season’s past. Spencer Herberich of Bishop O’Dowd helped lead the Dragons to a North Coast Section title and was the West Alameda County Conference Foothill Division’s MVP.
MIDFIELDERS: Kevin Romo headlines this group as he was the MVP of the Tri-County Athletic League, leading Richmond to an NCS title match appearance and had 39 goals and 14 assists. Marco Jara was the Co-Offensive MVP of the Diablo Athletic League’s Foothill Division for a Clayton Valley Charter team that was the top seed in the NCS Division I bracket. Sola Nishimura was the Co-MVP of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League, leading Mountain View to a Central Coast Section Open Division title and to the NorCal Region’s semifinals. Manuel Portillo Manuel Portillo F #155 Nation CA , a junior from Mitty, was the Midfielder of the Year in the WCAL.
FORWARDS: Keyan Shaugnessy, the senior from Dougherty Valley, was the MVP of the East Bay Athletic League while Monte Vista’s Stefan Zanatti Stefan Zanatti F CA was a first-team selection for the DI champion Mustangs. Kavi Krishnan, the UC Santa Barbara commit, was the Striker of the Year in the WCAL.
