In the Top 100 for this national list, there were a number of new faces from states without rankings yet. Below is a scouting report on some of those players – with the intention of releasing state rankings for those states in the near future.
rnAttacking midfielder. Winger. Game-breaker.
rnParsons might be the most exciting player in this class. She looks like the type of player who is Youth National Team level. She plays with the Orlando City Soccer 07 ECNL team, so she is playing up an age group and we don’t get to see her often against her own age group. She is a dynamic attacking player with elite finishing qualities. She has scored some unreal goals this season, and should be a player on every scout’s radar.
rnCenter attacking midfielder. Skillful. Creative.
rnJohnson is a top attacking talent from Indiana. She’s already earned national headlines for the goal she scored last season in the USL-W League. Playing at the ECNL level, she impressed with her intelligence. She is very good at moving off the ball and finding pockets of space. She does well in checking her shoulders before receiving the ball. Her quality on the ball shines through as well as she can dribble out of pressure among the best players in this class. She is an excellent passer with either foot, which makes her a difficult player to contain.
rnCenter forward. Dominant. Goal-scorer.
rnAnderson is the other top talent from Indiana. She has been on fire in the Girls Academy this season and earned a spot with the U.S. Youth National Team. She immediately stands out from playing against her age group – in a lot of the same ways Michelle Cooper used to dominate at this level. She has breakaway pace to go with skill and strength. It’s an ideal blueprint for a player with ambitions to play at the highest level. The small critique of her game is that she can take too many touches at times, which will cost her opportunities against older competition. For now, she looks like one of the top forwards from the Girls Academy in this class.
rnLeft center back. Leader. Smart.
rnO’Neill impressed me initially with her effort for her team in possession. Whenever her team is moving the ball around to retain possession and move the opposition, O’Neill is constantly moving and adjusting. Her effort to give her goalkeeper the proper angle for an outlet pass is especially noteworthy. On the ball, she can hit pretty much any pass with accuracy. She is equally as good as a defender. She reads bad touches and times her tackles well. O’Neill is a top player for the position.
rnMidfielder. Vision. Skill.
rnKennedy’s player profile as a box-to-box prospect puts her among the best in this class. She is a willing runner and worker. She will out hustle the competition – any time she sees the chance for a late run into the box, she commits to the work. On the ball, she keeps close control of the ball. She uses body fakes well to create space and turn on the ball. Kennedy plays with a lot of confidence and has a well-rounded game.
rnMidfield/Forward. Quick feet. Skillful
rnHerbert recently earned an invite to the U.S. U15 Girls National Team. The Utah Royals AZ standout has been playing up an age group in the ECNL this season. Her quick-thinking on the ball has made her a standout at that level as well. She is great at operating in space and being the creative force for her team. Improving on her ball-striking (both in shooting and hitting cross-field passes) will take her game to the next level.
rnDefensive midfielder. Athlete. Set-piece weapon.
rnEven is a two-sport star. She earned all-state honors for basketball. On the soccer field, she has been one of the key players for CUP in recent years. She runs the center of the field for that club team. She is always in the right spots and making the key plays. Even has also scored some goals in her time as a set-piece target on free kicks.
Center midfielder. Competitive. Creative.
Steinbach is the type of player who will do whatever it takes to help her team win. She is a key part of the IMG Academy 08 Girls Academy and wears the captain’s armband for that team. Her play at the Girls Academy level has attracted the interests of scouts from every level as she has been called into numerous US Youth National Team Talent Identification Center events. Steinbach’s competitive drive and fierceness on the field stood out from game film. Her creativity also shined. Her scoop pass to breakdown the opposition defense was something not many players can pull off even in practice. She is one to watch.
rnWinger. Fast. Skillful.
rnBrooks is a winger who has stood out in the past for her club team. She is dynamic attacking talent who thrives on the wing. She does really well in duels and she is showing her quality as a finisher lately with her ability to use her body to shield off defenders and score with a player on her hip. She looks comfortable as a finisher or crosser with either foot, which is perhaps her best asset and makes her difficult to defend.
rnOutside back. Versatile. Tough.
rnJones is currently on the national watchlist, but she is a player just on the cusp of cracking the rankings and one to scout more during the summer playoffs. She played up a couple of age groups at the ECNL National Event in Florida in January, she guest-played with the Jacksonville 2006 team. She did exceptionally well against the older competition with a faster speed of play.
Highlights
Midfielder. Composed. Boss.
Stoft is another player who was right on the cusp of a spot on the national rankings. She impressed with her play at the ECNL level this season. She has emerged as one of the top midfielders from the Southwest in the 07 age group. She is strong in the tackle, smart in possession, and always playing at her speed. She has been identified by various scouts recently including US Youth National Team scouts.
