Photo Gallery: Wilmington Friends vs Delaware Military Academy
Wilmington Friends hosted Delaware Military Academy for their home opener of the season last Thursday and overcame an early penalty kick to pick up a 1-1 draw.
DMA's Ashley Hughes opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a goal from the spot and was dangerous all afternoon for the Seahawks but it was Reagan Brady's 76th minute goal from the left flank that was the final say of the day in a match that held scoreless through two overtime periods.
Brady was a pest on the day with her pressure on the back line but junior defender Sidney Ziegler and the defense was able to limit the damage. Ninth grader Ryan Weigand was a standout in the Quakers attack and sophomore Giuliana DiPrinzio showed her passing range in the midfield while another ninth grader - Gianna Cottone - helped shut down Hughes and dangerous sophomore attacker Christina Pennia after conceding the early penalty.
