The four best teams in each division gave everything they had in order to secure the state title and we’ll take a good look at what happened in the State Tournament by highlighting the players that rose to the occasion and delivered stellar performances on the biggest moment of the season.
The Lewisville Marcus Lady Marauders claimed their second title in the competitive Division 6A Girls with a 2-0 win over the Ridge Point Panthers on Saturday.
These were the most effective players in the division:

The division’s Most Valuable Player, Campos was on absolute fire over the weekend in Georgetown, playing a big role on both of Marcus’ victories at the State Tournament. Her excellent play started on Friday’s semifinals, when she got a brace against Round Rock Westwood. The next day, the tenacious forward, who has committed to the Colorado School of Mines, registered the two goals of the Championship game against Ridge Point – one from a beautiful run down the left and the other from the penalty spot.
Marcus’ defense was just as impressive as their offense as they shut down two of the most talented teams in the state while only allowing five shots on target across both matches. Outside back Castans, a University of Kansas commit, was one of the Lady Marauders’ defensive anchors, getting the selection for the All-Tournament Team. Besides handling her defensive duties to perfection, the left-back also had a strong offensive impact on her team, getting a pair of assists against Round Round Westwood, one of them with a cross from 40 yards out.

Another All-Tournament Team selection for the Lady Marauders, Patterson has a great impact on the team as a freshman. She developed a great connection with Campos up top and also had great production against Round Rock Westwood in the semifinals, using her excellent positioning on the penalty box to score a couple of goals in the second half. Patterson was also very active in the Championship game against Ridge Point, firing two shots and drawing the penalty that led to the team’s second goal.
Richardson was among Ridge Point’s best players in both matches in Georgetown and also earned a place in the All-Tournament Team with her play. She never left the field for the Panthers and played aggressively, looking to score whenever she had a chance. Richardson scored a critical goal in the semifinals against Wylie East, leveling the score during overtime and led her team in shots on both matches, registering four finishes in the semifinal and two in the Championship game.
Playing in the midfield for Wylie East, Geppert was of great importance to her team, bringing great intensity and quality on the ball for the Lady Raiders. She went all 100 minutes against Ridge Point and also proved to be a threat in the air, getting on the end of a long cross from Alysia Cano to beat the defenders and score off of a header. Her strong performance took her to the All-Tournament Team.
