US Soccer scouts were in Florida in January with the spotlight on the 2008 age group. Below is a breakdown of a few of the 2027s from the event plus the full roster from the Talent ID Center.
rnAttacker. Finisher. Quick.
rnDeligans is a talented attacker from the 2027 class. She is a left-footed winger who could also feature at center forward or attacking midfielder. She is good with either foot and can put in a cross with her right, which makes her a versatile option to feature on either wing. She has a good move to create space in 1v1 situations – and only needs a small opening to rip off a shot. Her play at IMG Academy has shown she is developing more aspects of her game, and her combination play through the center of the field has improved this season. She is making good decisions on the ball and setting up teammates with chances.
Highlights
rnCenter back. Tall. Commanding.
rnSmalls is listed as a forward/midfielder on her player profile, but I saw her play as a right center back. She is tall, athletic with a long stride. She matches up well against center forwards when tasked with man-marking. She is right-footed with a strong leg. She has a commanding presence on the field and is a leader for her team. She is part of the ODP at a regional level and one of the standouts from that group.
rn
rnLeft back. Aggressive. Quick.
rnStickler is a left-footed outside back. I saw her play left back. She showed well in her defensive qualities. She did well in positioning her body to cut out passes. She showed quick feet to poke the ball off the feet of the winger. With her pace, she is a weapon going forward. If she continues to improve as a passer with pace and accuracy, she will take her game to the next level.
Highlights
rnRight wing. Skillful. Set-piece specialist.
rnBonnett plays as a right winger on the Orlando City ECNL 08 team. She hits a great free kick. She can place the ball with back spin in the exact right spot. She has the quality to drive the shot too. In the run of play, she has good skill on the ball and uses all parts of her foot to manipulate the ball – her inside-out cut with the ball with her right-foot is a technically pretty advanced move and she regularly pulls it off cleanly. It does seem like she could be more aggressive in taking players on with the ball at her feet.
