This is one of FC Dallas' weaker age groups in some time. They only have one player that is Youth National Team quality and that is Zach Molomo. There are some solid U-15 players and a lot of role players that don't impact the game that consistently. I would expect FCD to hit the recruiting trail hard this summer to try and boost this age group.

My grading system

I use a numerical scoring framework to grade players. I look at what I consider to be the most important traits and skills for each position and apply a numerical value to each of those categories. I take into account the age of the player when grading for each category. The categories include physical traits, technical ability, intellectual understanding of the game and their mentality in how they approach the game. I average those individual scores in order to generate a holistic grade of the player. The score helps me identify what tier of prospect a player is.

Tier 1: A high impact player with all the tools to be a first choice youth national team selection and an obvious homegrown contract candidate.

Tier 2: A very good youth prospect that should likely get youth national team consideration and a potential homegrown contract candidate.

Tier 3: A solid youth prospect that should get a look in MLS Next Pro or is likely getting recruited to play high level college soccer.

LCB, Zach Molomo (2008)

What kind of player is he?

Molomo is one of the best center-backs in this age group. He is a very athletic left-footed center-back with quick feet and a desire to play with the ball at his feet. He has good ball control and his potential as a passer is very exciting. He has the ability to make all of the passes you want from a center-back, but his accuracy can be a little inconsistent. Molomo was exposed a little bit in the GA Cup against Chelsea where they pressed him high and he struggled with his decision making and he turned the ball over too often in dangerous areas. Defensively he has the ability to be very good. His one on one defense is very good thanks to his footwork and mobility. Off the ball, he reads the game in front of him well, but can get caught too high and can be late to see runners on the back post.

Level: Tier 2, Tier 1 Upside

CM, Edgar Razo (2008)

What kind of player is he?

Rojas is a really smart offensive player. He makes clever and positive decisions on the ball and he moves well off of the ball, knowing the right time and place to run vertically into the channel. He won't blow you away with his size or athleticism, but he is a clever passer and he reads the game well defensively.

Level: Tier 2, Tier 1 Upside

AM, [player_tooltip player_id='88535' first='Andre' last='Saucedo'] (2008)

What kind of player is he?

Saucedo is a playmaker with the ball at his feet and he loves to possess the ball. He has a compact and sturdy frame that makes him difficult to take the ball off and he controls the ball well in tight spaces. He also performs well in one touch passing situations, connecting play proficiently. He hasn't quite figured out how to get the most out of his skillset in the final third. A player with his technical ability should create more danger than he does.

Level: Tier 3

This is one of FC Dallas' weaker age groups in some time. They only have one player that is Youth National Team quality and that is Zach Molomo. There are some solid U-15 players and a lot of role players that don't impact the game that consistently. I would expect FCD to hit the recruiting trail hard this summer to try and boost this age group.
