St. Mark's is heading back to the Delaware State final thanks to a thrilling 4-2 win over Wilmington Friends that avenged a 3-0 loss earlier in the season on Wednesday.
St. Mark's will play Archmere Academy in the final tonight at 6 p.m.
The Spartans took an early lead on Wednesday with a goal from Ava Frohnapfel off a corner kick and held a 2-1 lead at halftime after a goal from Whitney Evancho. Katie Lennon made it 3-1 on a left footed shot from the flank but Wilmington Friends was able to pull back within a goal on a shot from distance by Giuliana DiPrinzio. Lily Phillips put the game to rest with a long shot that bounced over the head of the Wilmington Friends keeper.
