One of those teams is the Pipeline 2007 squad from Maryland (Go O’s!). One of my favorite teams I watched this week, let’s take a closer look at a few of their players, and one they played against…
It did not take very long to find out why Casey Price Casey Price M Archbishop Curley | 2025 #108 Nation MD won the ECNL Mid-Atlantic POY in 2021-22. From the opening whistle Price was a physical presence in the midfield. Winning possession, keeping it, finding open teammates, creating attacking chances, winning aerial duels, he does it all. Very intelligent when receiving the ball, he knows when to switch fields and is a very accurate passer. Price plays like an excellent student of the game.
Stefan Garefalakis is an attacking player for this 07 Pipeline squad. His good pace puts defenders on their heels and he takes full advantage, driving at them and changing directions on a dime to get in behind and create chances. Stefan also shows great movement off the ball, flying into open spaces for his teammates to find him. Garefalakis also showed a good engine, competing for 50/50 balls and winning them more often than not.
Highlights
Zachary Johnson
Zachary Johnson
A class of 2026 forward, Zach Johnson is a strong player. Does a good job of holding up the ball with his back to the goal and picking out the right passes as his team moves up to join him. He exhibits great positioning on the ball to make it tough for defenders to reach it and moves well off the ball into open space to be an option.
Zachary Moneymaker Zachary Moneymaker M MD is a midfielder and defender for this team. He looked very comfortable as a right back, picking out attacking players on the left side of the field with long passes early in the game. “Money,” as it seemed his teammates were calling him, has very good passing accuracy, and is able to make those long diagonal passes. He also challenged every ball in the air near him and was able to create space with the dribble and his first touch.
Ameer Asmath
Ameer Asmath
Ameer Asmath was a bright spot in the midfield for Washington Premier. He was able to make quick turns to the open side of the field to relieve his team of the constant press put on by Pipeline. Asmath used this space he created properly to find teammates in open space. He also showed off some really smart 1st touches that sprung his team into attack.
That does it for Part III, more coming soon! Maybe some more Pipeline players…
