Continue ReadingThis week PrepSoccer is unveiling the initial ranking for the 2024 Division I recruiting classes. Most of the players ranked in the national rankings have made their verbal commitment at this point. However, there are a few difference-makers still out there – and there is still the chance of players switching their commitment prior to Signing Day.
Below is the ranking of the classes between 21 and 30 in our ranking. Check back later this week for the rest of the list.
PrepSoccer National Ranking Number listed before a player for those on that list
21. Georgia
#41 Anna Castenfelt (Utah Royals FC-AZ), #129 Cayla Jackson (Tampa Bay United)
The Georgia 2023 class is pretty stacked so it is understandable that the 2024 group would be lighter. While this group lacks some depth, there are two players here who should be competing for playing time immediately in Athens.
22. TCU
#67 Blake Olivier Blake Olivier F Houston Episcopal (TX) | 2024 State #67 Nation TX (AHFC), #96 Ainsley Moy (PDA), #109 Kaela Martinez Kaela Martinez 5'4" | M University City (CA) | 2024 #113 Nation CA (Albion SC), #142 Cameron Patton Cameron Patton F Vandegrift (TX) | 2024 State #152 Nation TX (Lonestar SC), Rylie Monahan Rylie Monahan D Helix (CA) | 2024 #150 Nation CA (Slammers FC HB Koge), Sarah Bonnecaze (Louisiana TDP), Morgan Brown Morgan Brown M Wylie (TX) | 2024 State TX (FC Dallas), Abigail Cox (Portland Thorns), Elly Harrington (Florida Krush), Cate Sarinopolous (Colorado Rush), Jordan Whiteaker (Colorado Rush)
TCU definitely reloaded with this group. Blake Olivier Blake Olivier F Houston Episcopal (TX) | 2024 State #67 Nation TX is the top ranked name on the list. Olivier has all of the tools to be a multi-year all-conference player at this level. She is quick, confident on either foot, and a fierce competitor. Kaela Martinez Kaela Martinez 5'4" | M University City (CA) | 2024 #113 Nation CA is a late riser from this class. The talented midfielder might not be the opening-day starter as she adjusts the physicality of the college game, but she perhaps has the highest ceiling of any player in this group.
23. Clemson
#26 Kendall Bodak (NEFC), Ella Johnson Ella Johnson M State CA (Wilmington Hammerheads), Allie Serlenga (PDA)
Clemson adding US U17 Women’s National Team player Kendall Bodak is a huge addition for the ACC program. Bodak is a midfielder from Massachusetts who is expected to be the immediate standout for this team. Ella Johnson Ella Johnson M State CA is a name to watch though. Johnson was a part of the US Soccer National Team program, but an injury kept her out for an extended time. She is back and earned All-American honors for her high school last season.
24. Boston College
#39 Shea Boyle (FC Stars), Maya Cheeseboro (Bethesda), Elizabeth Bigala (Charlotte SA), Georgina Clarke (FC Stars), Amalia Dray (Sockers), Riley Prozzo (FSA FC United)
Two players from FC Stars highlight this list. Shea Boyle, previously from Oakwood, is the top ranked player heading to Boston College. She is a stellar defender who should be in line for a starting role early on based on the level of play she has shown at the top club level. Maya Cheeseboro is an exciting player from the goalkeeper position. Fearless, elite at diving saves, and quick off her line, Cheeseboro has shown the potential to be a top goalkeeper in the future.
25. West Virginia
#43 Alicia Riggins Alicia Riggins F State #43 Nation TX (DKSC), #132 Maddie Levy (PA Classics), Alexis Re (SUSA), Taylor Allen (IMG)
Riggins is a perfect fit for West Virginia’s style of play. She should shine in that environment – from the coaching to the competition, this is one of those instances of an ideal landing spot for a top prospect. Alexis Re is an interesting player from this group. She is a forward/midfielder who has played a number of roles at the youth level. Finding her a home on the field and giving her a path to meaningful minutes in that role will be a story from this class.
26. Arkansas
#115 Anaiyah Robinson Anaiyah Robinson F Bridgeland (TX) | 2024 State #119 Nation TX (Challenge SC), Keegan Smith (WNY Flash), Kyndal Ewertz (KC Athletics), Lily Boydstun (Real Colorado)
Robinson is one of those players who previously committed to Oklahoma but opened her process again after the coaching change there. Arkansas is the winner from that situation. Robinson was a dominant player in the ECNL season. She should be an early contributor at the next level. Arkansas’ recruiting staff does an excellent job and this class is another testament to the work they put in.
27. Santa Clara
#156 Isabelle De Buyl (KC Athletics), Lauren Hunter Lauren Hunter null | M Whitney (CA) | 2024 CA (Davis Legacy), Londyn Lovell (SC del Sol), Kaylee Smith Kaylee Smith F Francis Parker (CA) | 2024 CA (Del Mar Sharks), Ava Weiland (KC Athletics)
Santa Clara adds a physical defender in De Buyl to this class. The KC Athletics center back is one of two players from that club headed to Northern California. Ava Weiland was an ECNL All-Conference honoree at defense.
28. Ohio State
Jacinda Bonham (Internationals SC), Jadin Bonham (Internationals), Victoria Miller (Michigan Jaguars), Maliyah Morrison (NC Courage), Anika Poremba (Loudoun Soccer)
The Bonham twins were quite impressive during the ECNL playoffs this summer, but the strength of this group is built on numbers. All of the listed verbal commitments have a pathway to early minutes with Ohio State. I love the potential of Poremba in this program as an outside back. She is clean on the ball and super confident playing out of pressure. She could be one of the under-the-radar, under-rated prospects from this group.
29. Georgetown
#161 Caroline Spengler (Connecticut FC), Jocelyn Lohmeyer (Arlington SA), Cameron Gabrielson (PDA), Cassie Delinsky (Virginia Union), Jamie Covitz (Virginia Union)
Caroline Spengler has been a standout at the club level for some time. She has been on an upward trajectory lately and earned a spot on the national rankings with her play in the midfield at the ECNL level. Lohmeyer, a right-footed attacker, feels like the type of player who could develop into a standout at Georgetown.
30. Maryland
Ella Bulava (Pittsburgh Riverhounds), Gemma Davitian (Bethesda SC), Ellie Egeland (Eclipse Select), Danielle Gichner (Eclipse Select), Kate Hawley (Arlington SA), Emily Lenhard (VDA), Kennadie Marchand (UFA), Taryn Raibon Taryn Raibon D #221 Nation CA (Slammers), Samantha Winer (Arlington SA)
It’s a big class heading to College Park. Ellie Egeland is an exciting addition and an obvious prospect in terms of how they will use her on the field at the next level. The speedy winger should have some company from her classmates in the starting lineup early on. The competitiveness of Gemma Davitian should earn her some playing time quickly.
