The defending Division 2 champs Caravel Academy took a 2-0 lead in the first half behind goals from senior Parmeet Singh and sophomore Jaxon Blanco but the hosts pulled one back just before halftime when senior Mason Nowaczyk set up sophomore Oliver Hohman.
The second half was mostly Caravel on the front foot with Singh and Finlay Lum combining in the final third. Senior goalkeeper Ryan Smith was strong when tested – particularly in commanding his box off corner kicks – and the back line was able to absorb pressure without conceding too many clear dangerous chances.
Unfortunately for the Auks they weren’t able to generate enough offense going the other way. Nowaczyk and senior Jason Lotkowski looked dangerous at times but they weren’t able to find too much success penetrating the middle of the Buccaneers defense. Juniors Mason Csapo Mason Csapo F DE and Jacob Wojciechowski Jacob Wojciechowski M PA have a lot of experience and poise both on the defensive end and in linking play going forward so they did a lot of the heavy lifting of limiting those chances. The duo have been and will continue to be the difference between a one-goal win, a one-goal loss or a draw for Caravel.
Some other players of note from the match included Caravel senior Suyash Singh defender, Archmere junior defender Seamus Naughter, Caravel’s game-winner Blanco, Caravel junior midfielder Liam Boland and sophomore attacker Holden Master, who assisted on the game-winner.
