Teams from the U15, U16, U17 and U18/19 age groups will be in action from Friday to Sunday at Heritage Park and Aventura Park in an event that will feature as many as 160 sides from the entire country.
Several Texas teams will make the trip to Nevada, with the Lone Star State sending as many as 39 club teams to compete in Las Vegas. Here are five players who will be in action at the event who are worth your attention:
Samuel Sedeh
Samuel Sedeh
Sedeh will be leading the offensive efforts of his team BVBIA NTX B09 against Pipeline SC, Sporting California USA and River Island Surf. He’s a complete player, who can play in wider positions or more centrally and will be a goal-scoring threat regardless of where he’s deployed. The forward is great at dribbling the ball, is very quick and gets into good spots to finish. Sedeh uses both feet well, is always composed in front of the goal and can also score off of set pieces. He’s never afraid of shooting and is often rewarded for his confidence with goals.
Diego Torres-Solis
Diego Torres-Solis
Torres-Solis will be a force in the backline for his team Lonestar SC Red B08 when they face KC Scott Gallagher, Ohio Premier and SLSG Illinois. A defender who combines physical and technical tools very well, he’s solid on both sides of the ball. Torres-Solis uses his size to dispossess opponents and intercept passes, but is also very clean in possession, connecting good passes. He’s at his best when playing on the left-side of a three-man backline, with the freedom to push forward when sees an opportunity. Torres-Solis can also play as a defensive midfielder and does a good job of sending long free kicks into the opposing penalty box.
Flynn Suther
Flynn Suther
Suther and his team Albion Hurricanes FC B08 are scheduled to face Sporting Iowa, United PDX and River Island Surf this week in Las Vegas. He plays as a box-to-box midfielder for Albion and is a key piece in their playing system, providing energy and quality in the central area of the field. Suther covers a lot of ground defensively and plays hard with his tackles, being very effective in his attempts to win the ball back. He’s also very smooth in possession, moving the ball around and controlling the pace of the game. The midfielder also likes to support the attack when he sees an opportunity and can catch defenses off-guard with his finishes from outside the penalty box.
Todic will be a goal-scoring option for his team Rise SC G07 in their matches against Crossfire Premier, Atlanta Fire United and Pride SC. A striker, he’s a real threat inside and around the penalty box and can score goals in a variety of ways. Todic is big and physical, which allows him to operate as a target forward and to be very effective in the air. He also has the quality to drop back and engage in combination plays, but is more dangerous inside the penalty box, where his movement off-the-ball typically generates good looks for him to score. Todic is also very precise when shooting from distance and is one of those forwards who doesn’t need too much time on the ball to finish chances.
Gall will be one of the building blocks of the FC Dallas Red B06/05 team that will be tested against Seattle United, the Colorado Rapids and NTH-NASA this weekend in Vegas. He can be used as a defensive midfielder or in more of a box-to-box role and has the tools to thrive in both roles and to contribute on and off the ball. Gall is a strong defensive player, who times his tackles well and is very good at winning the ball back. He’s also very productive in possession, finding pockets of space to get on the ball and using his vision to feed his teammates in the attacking third.
