The 2008/U16 age group was a particular focus for scouts as they featured many of the top prospects from the 2026 class as scouts got an early look at that group.
PrepSoccer was on hand for the action and below is a list of the standouts from the games we caught on site.
Sloane Phillips Sloane Phillips 5'7" | M Temecula Valley | 2026 State #52 Nation CA , City SC – Phillips was a bright spot for City SC’s attack throughout the three-game event. Skillful on the ball and a capable finisher with either foot, Phillips proved to be a difference-maker from the midfield.
Mayson Houseman, City SC – Houseman impressed me against NEFC. The center forward had good control of the ball while under pressure. She influenced the game with her hold-up play. She also scored an outrageous goal against TSJ FC Virginia off an assist from Phillips.
Cheyanne Longwell Cheyanne Longwell F Poway | 2027 State CA , City SC – Longwell scored on a long free kick in the win against NEFC. The center back showed well for her side throughout the event and helped lead her side to two shutout victories from the three wins. Ayala Kyoko De Bore, Sophia Fuentes, and Jaiden Sidhu were also standouts defensively for City SC.
Anya Montano, NEFC – Montano played as a defensive midfield from the game I saw of NEFC, but she possesses elite playmaking qualities that almost made her seem like she was playing in a more advanced role. She has excellent vision and the passing skill to match. Montana was a top prospect from the NEFC team.
Sophie Skabeikis, NEFC – Skabeikis scored a great goal in the first half in the game against City SC. The forward showed great composure and game awareness to pick her head up and place her shot for the goal.
Peace Veazey, TSJ FC Virginia – Veazey impressed me with her activity level and effort. She was always making impactful plays and she did not slow down when she was on the field. Her effort created a goal. The relentless worker will be one to watch as she can clearly influence the game with her effort.
Caitlyn Borsuk, TSJ FC Virginia – Borsuk showed off a her set piece skills as she provided some excellent delivery in the game against Lonestar. She is a strong defender too and led her team to the shutout victory in that game.
Lily Stevens, TSJ FC Virginia – Stevens is one of those players who immediately stands out from the club game as a player with incredibly high upside. She is poised on the field, never rushed, and always seems a step ahead in her thought process. She had a shot in the game against Lonestar that showed off her excellent ball striking technique. Emily Mercer and Kelsey Rogers were good for TSJ FC Virginia too.
Ashlyn Anderson Ashlyn Anderson F #17 Nation IN , Indy Premier 08 – Anderson scored a great goal against Florida United. The Youth National Team forward has all the tools to be a top player at the position for a long time. She has the speed, but it’s more the intelligence in her positioning that set her apart as she was great at playing off the shoulder of the defender and timing her runs. Anderson made not mistake when she had a chance on goal too.
Sloane May Sloane May F #84 Nation IN , Indy Premier 08 – May had the assist on the goal to Anderson. It was a perfect pass – in both weight and timing. The attacker looks like the ideal prospect in a support striker role as she can do everything asked of that position.
Cassidy Pettijohn, Indy Premier 08 – Pettijohn was one of the top left backs in the 08 age group. She did well defensively whenever she was tested – both in the tackle and in cutting out passes. She offered quality going forward with her left-footed crossing. She also is a weapon with a long throw-in.
Braylee Morris, Indy Premier 08 – Morris was outstanding in the midfield from the game against Florida United. She was not afraid to put in a tackle and helped win possession for her team. Morris looks to be a top prospect from the 2027 group. Tori Brewer was a standout in the attack too for Indy.
Ashley Smith, Florida United – The Florida United goalkeeper was terrific against Indy Premier. Great whenever she got her hands on the ball. She also showed her quality in organizing the defense. Her distribution also helped jumpstart the attack for her side.
Maya Allen, Florida United – Allen was a standout for Florida at center back. She is great at reading the game and anticipating when to jump in front of the pass. She is reliable in possession and finds her teammates feet with accurate passes. Allen is a top defender from 2026.
Sophia Barnes, Florida United – Barnes lived up to the reputation as one of the top forwards in this age group. She was excellent against a very good Indy Premier team. She showed off her skill early on in how she received the ball and quickly turned on goal when the defender gave her space. She drew a penalty kick early on in the game with her play as she proved impossible for the opposition to fully contain.
Anna Neff, Utah Celtic – Neff is a midfielder who impressed against Florida United. She battled against of trio of talented midfielders on the other side and proved her quality. She always checked her shoulders before receiving the ball. She did well in moving off the ball to create new angles for her teammates. Neff was smooth on the ball and an excellent passer.
Ellie Karl, Utah Celtic – Outside backs often get overlooked but it’s hard to overlook the impact Karl had for her side. An outstanding two-way player, Karl demanded attention from the start. She is a good athlete and covers ground in a hurry. She takes over her side of the field with her defensive stranglehold on the opposing winger and her long runs into the attack with the ball at her feet. Kiera Bradley and Sienna Jensen were also standouts in the defense for Celtic.
Hayden Bluestein, Florida United – Bluestein is one of those players I just enjoy watching play. She is a student of the game and it’s easy to see why her coaches will deploy her in a number of different positions throughout the season. She was playing center midfield against Utah Celtic and did well at reading the game and getting the ball out of her feet quickly on that slick turf surface. She looks ready to play at a faster pace in the near future.
Olivia Kaiser, Lou Fusz – Kaiser was outstanding against Colorado Rush. There were no easy passes into the center of the field in that game. She was everywhere and she poked away so many passes in the first half that eventually Rush stopped trying. That type of impact changed the game in her team’s favor. Gabby Thompson and Gracie Milam were also standouts for Lou Fusz.
Lily Selvy, Lou Fusz – Selvy was terrific in goal for Lou Fusz. From saves to distribution to organization, she was playing at her highest level and helped her side collect three wins with only one goal conceded. Her pass early on against Colorado Rush was a thing of beauty. A 50-yard pass right onto her teammates foot like she dropped there for a foot away.
Madilyn Wright Madilyn Wright M State #57 Nation GA , Tophat Gold – Wright was a standout in the midfield in the game against Fram. She is smooth on the ball in possession with a good first touch and comfort to play with her head up. One aspect of Wright’s game that impressed me is that she isn’t afraid to be physical on the field. She will get in the way of the opposition to the benefit of her teammates. The uncompromising approach set the tone early for Tophat.
Angelina Obuljen Angelina Obuljen F CA , Fram – Obuljen played in an attacking midfield role for Fram. She was one of the keys to the success of the team against Tophat. She kept close control of the ball and did well on the turn as she kept good balance to withstand challenges and run away from the defender. She hits a good ball on the diagonal out wide and sprung the attack through the channels with her passing.
McKenzie Godfrey McKenzie Godfrey null | F Midtown | 2026 State GA , Tophat Gold – Godfrey was a handful for the Fram defense. She was tough to mark when she had possession of the ball with her pace and skill. And she was just as tough on them when they had possession as she pressed and created chances for her team with her effort.
Maddie Harmon, Fram – Harmon had an excellent game against Tophat. She was smart about when to put in the challenge and when to drop off to cover. She had an excellent partnership with Payton Norman.
Dezi Lau, Fram – Lau was prolific at the event as the leading scorer for Fram. The attacking talent was unstoppable against both Tophat and Lamorinda.
