As part of the rankings release, we take an in-depth look into each of the position groups. Below is a scouting report on some of the top forwards to know from this class.
Morrell is a forward on the TSJ FC Virginia 08 Girls Academy team. She is a member of the U.S. U15 Girls National Team. She was also part of the Girls Academy National Talent ID event last summer. Morrell is one of the top players in the country in this class. She is capable of playing as a center forward or on the wing. She is a high activity player who is tough to contain. She has lightning quick feet. She is a skillful dribble with either foot. Morrell offers game-breaking ability at a very rare level for a youth player. The potential is obvious with the TSJ FC Virginia standout. She is the top ranked prospect in Virginia in this first ranking.
Highlights
Veazey is a forward on the TSJ FC Virginia 08 Girls Academy team. She was select for the Girls Academy Mid-Atlantic Talent ID event last season. The forward was one of the standouts during the Champions Cup event earlier this month in Southern California. She is the type of forward who will not quit on a play. She is unrelenting in her approach and that quality shines through – in both in-person and game film scouting. She offers pace and a nose or the goal. She is also excellent at creating chances and can make goal-scoring opportunities out of nothing with her effort. Veazey’s mentality and work ethic will take her a long way and makes her a top prospect from this group.
Kylie Osborne Kylie Osborne M Manchester | 2027 State VA is a wide player on the Richmond United 09 ECNL team. She can play either on the wing or as a wingback. She is a very versatile two-way player. She does well in 1v1 duels – strong, physical, and quick she is often the one who comes away with the ball. Osborne offers quality in the attacking third too. She can hit in a cross or get on the end of a diagonal ball with her pace.
Ryan is a forward on the NVA 08 ECNL team. She is capable of playing any number of roles through the center of the field (No. 8, No. 10, or No. 9), but I’ve seen her mainly in a No. 9 recently and I think that might be her future spot too. She wears the captain’s armband for her club team. She is a hardworking player who is very coachable. Ryan shines in that regard. She is tasked with leading her squad with the first line of pressure and she sets the tone from that responsbility. She is good in the press and does well in cutting off options. She has the physical frame to be a center forward at the top level of college soccer. Given her positional versatility, she is still adjusting to some of the nuances of the position and some of her runs off the ball in that role can be lack a bit of the conviction usually needed to create separation against top center backs. When Ryan is on the ball, she is strong and can hold off defenders. When she faces goal, she can rip a shot from 30 yards out so defenders need to step to her to close off space. Her vision really shines in those situations as she is an exceptional passer for the position. Ryan is a name to know from this group as she could have among the highest ceilings from this class.
