Riley Kennedy Riley Kennedy M State #56 Nation NC scored for North Carolina Courage and Sierra Davis for CESA. CESA had moments attacking but North Carolina had most of the possession throughout the match. NC Courage showed patience and confidence in keeping the ball. They also showed they were confident in trying to attack in the right moments. CESA decided early in the match to defend as a team and counter attack on the mistakes of NC Courage. CESA had some moments in the attacking third. NC Courage had an unlucky touch in their own half, CESA is quick to attack and wins a penalty kick. Ava Brown was the goal scorer for the penalty kick. NC Courage’s Campbell Sykes scored the second goal after Eva Forster Eva Forster M State #89 Nation NC shot to challenge the keeper. Both teams stuck to their game plan throughout the match. Although NC Courage had most of the possession and displayed a high level of ability in keeping the ball, the result for the match was 2-2.
Eva Forster Eva Forster M State #89 Nation NC played a major role in the success NC Courage had in the match. She played as a midfielder throughout the game. Forster showed confidence when she had the ball and a calmness. She controlled the tempo for NC Courage. She connects passes well and can find the open players often. As much as she is an outlet for her back line, Forster displayed she can and will join into the attacking game. She created the opportunity for the second goal. Overall, Eva Forster Eva Forster M State #89 Nation NC ‘s performance was impressive and made a big impact for her team.
Brennan Moore Brennan Moore D NC played as a center back for NC Courage in this match. She stood out for multiple reasons in this match. Not only did she connect passes well with her teammates but she showed her ability to take players on too. Moore was able to beat a forward in the defensive third with her footwork to glide past. She was able to connect her pass after beating the forward and continued to put her line up to join the play. She was a big reason NC Courage was able to keep possession for most of the match. Overall, Moore displayed she plays as a solid center back for NC Courage.
Cali O’Neill Cali O’Neill D State #51 Nation NC played as a center back for NC Courage. She showed she can make a tackle and connects her passes well. She also showcased her foot skills in the defensive third to keep possession instead of playing it long. O’Neill did a great job of playing her fullback and midfielders often.
Ava Brown
Ava Brown
Ava Brown played as a midfielder for CESA. She scored the second goal and did well on both sides of the ball. CESA defended most of the game but the times she had the ball she connected her passes well with the back line and showed a willingness to join in for the attacks they did create. Brown did well defensively throughout the match. She was able to stay near her mark and communicate with her teammates. Overall, Brown was able to make an impact defensively and in the moments CESA had in the attacking half.
