As part of the rankings process, we do a deep-dive into each position group from the rankings. Below is a scouting report on the midfielders who appear in the 2027 rankings for Florida.
De Paula is a midfielder on the Inter Miami U15 MLS Next team. He plays as a deep-lying playmaker for Inter Miami. He is a star on the futsal court as well. The foot skills that shine on the court also do him favors on the turf. He’s elusive on the ball – good close control, quick feet, and body feints. De Paula is an excellent passer as well and provided an assist in the game against FC Dallas during the MLS Next event. He’s earned a key role for his club team.
Mauch is a midfielder on the Chargers U15 MLS Next team. He has been part of the US Soccer Talent ID Center events in the past. Such immediately stood out from game film this season in MLS Next. He’s a tall midfielder with good composure on the ball. He plays as a box-to-box midfielder – and some times looks like he moves into the defensive midfield role – and likes to be in control of the game. He is at his best when the game in the transition moments of the game. He is decisive in his movement and actions. He can be a little closed off at times in terms of his vision of his field and his body shape. It feels like he missed a couple of runs on the wing that were outside his scope of vision. He had a couple of sloppy passes earlier this season as well. He’s a pretty good defender in duels. He knows how to escape with the ball under his control. Mauch’s all-around game makes him an enticing prospect as a No. 8.
Tchorbadjiev is a midfielder on the IMG Academy U15 MLS Next team. He might be the best ball striker in this class. Tchorbadjiev has scored some incredible goals this season including a 30-yard bomb against Chargers early on in the campaign. Tchorbadjiev is smooth on the ball and clean with his touch. He operates as a box-to-box midfielder. With his game-changing ability (both in the pass and shot), Tchorbadjiev offers an elite skill that makes him stand out from his peers.
McDonald is a midfielder on the Coastal Rush 09 ECNL RL team – one of the best teams in Florida in that league. McDonald stood out from recent showcase events while competing against some of the top teams in the state. He is also part of the Rush Select program. McDonald has elite qualities to his game. His footwork in tight spaces is incredible. It’s easy to see how he brings his futsal skills onto the field. He’s also played at the International level with a trip to Brazil recently. The Rush squad is a fun one to scout. They have a number of promising players who should be getting more looks from scouts.
Uranga is a midfielder on the Athletum FC MLS Next team. He has been part of the US Soccer Talent ID events in the past. Uranga is an attacking midfielder. He’s the best non-MLS academy player I scouted in this class. Silky smooth on the ball, always in full control, plays with his head up, there are a ton of qualities to love about his game. The most significant aspect is he is seemingly always contributing winning plays – either assists or goals. Every game I watched from Athletum, Uranga made an impact in the final third. The U15 level seems too easy for him so hopefully he gets more chances against older competition in the near future.
Aguilera is a midfielder for Florida Premier FC. He has been part of the US Soccer Talent ID events recently. Aguilera is an attacking midfielder and looks to be one of the top players from the Boys ECNL in the 09 age group in the country. He’s right foot dominant, but it doesn’t hold back his game. He’s so smooth and clever in his movement that the opposition can know which way he is going and still have no clue how to stop him. Compared to some of the other attacking midfielders in this class, Aguilera is the best finisher. He can score in a variety of ways and he is efficient with his chances. He has professional level quality.
