2027 Colorado Soccer Boys: Meet the Next Generation

Martinez can play as an attacking midfielder, box-to-box midfielder, or as a winger who slots inside. I haven't seen him in the winger role, but I am projecting him to fill that role if needed. He has has better attacking quality than any other midfielder in this class. He is a good finisher. He is clean on the ball and does well in tight spaces. I think he's at his best in a more advanced role, but he has the engine to cover the whole field so it's easy to see why he would be deployed as a No. 8. Martinez is a talented player who rarely loses possession of the ball, plays with his head up, and likes to progress the ball up the field. Every game this season, he has been one of the most dependable players. He's good on the ball, strong in the tackle, and has an excellent partnership with [player_tooltip player_id='164896' first='Kamal' last='Sawadogo']. Siegler has been part of the US Soccer Talent ID events in the past. He was part of the West Region U14 Mini-Camp last year. He previously played for SC del Sol (Arizona). The new addition to the MLS Academy has been outstanding this season. He is a tall box-to-box midfielder. He is good on the ball and plays with his head up. He can be a bit stiff in lateral mobility, which shows up when he is crowded in the center of the field. His first touch needs to be a bit cleaner especially for the professional level. Siegler's tactical quality is excellent. He knows where to be and how to support his teammates. He is good at checking his shoulders before receiving the ball. He plays as the left center back for his club team. He was part of the US Soccer U14 Mini-Camp for the Central/South region. He stands out from the field for his stature. He is one of the tallest players on the field in every MLS Next game. Already over six-feet tall, Sawadogo is more than just a dominant aerial presence. He is very good on the ball. Clean in the pass and regularly sets up his teammates for success. He plays like a veteran - there's a certain sophistication to his game. I'm not sure on his top end speed for the professional level, but he's got more than enough for the elite club level. He plays left back for Rapids. I don't see any Youth National Team call-ups in his past, but Pomeroy's play in recent games (especially against Whitecaps) showed that he is at that level. There aren't many left-footed players with his skillset and defensive qualities. I think he can try to do too much at times (referring to when he holds possession), but those same instincts suggest a player with high upside. Pomeroy adjusting to fasting level of play will be the key to his development. I've mainly seen him play on the left wing. Hernandez has been part of the US Soccer U14 Mini-Camp last year. He is a dynamic attacking player. He likes to start on the touch line and get in isolated situations. His quick first step and close control of the ball makes him a difficult player to contain. He needs to improve on his recognition about when to take players on. He's had some struggles about when to take on players on the dribble and when to pass off and combine with teammates. Bucci bounces between the U15 and U17 team for the club. He previously play for RNY FC (New York). He has a good first touch. He likes to play one or two-touch through the center of the field. He does a lot of work off the ball to receive the ball facing the way he wants to go with his next pass. He's a good player with high upside. He gets lost in the shuffle some because he's a late 08 who is getting some minutes with the 09s this season. He can play a variety of positions, but I think he's probably a center back in the future. Bruce impressed with his pace and defensive skillset for the [program_tooltip program_id='283723' first='Real' last='Colorado'] side. I believe he is one of the only 2027s on that group, which features some of the best 2026s in the state. He's had a utility role with the team - from center back to outside back to forward. Bruce is a promising prospect from the class.
