Below is a scouting report on some of the forwards in the state rankings for this class.
Dickey is a forward on the Washington Premier 08 ECNL team. Dickey is an ODP member as well. Dickey has really impressed me this season. She has added some tools to her bag as a forward this season. Her quality on the spin when she plays with her back to goal is among the best I’ve seen from this class. She is tough to catch when she is in the open field. She is not the most efficient finisher, but her unrelenting approach allows her to be a high volume shooter and still come away with a number of goals. If Dickey develops that ruthless one-touch finish every time, she will be unstoppable in ECNL. Based on her improvement this season, there is reason to believe that she will be a top forward to watch during the playoffs.
Highlights
Brew-Smith is a forward on the Seattle United 08 ECNL team. She is a promising prospect for the role. She is excellent in the combination play of the game. She is not afraid of the physical nature of the position and does well using her body to hold off defenders. She can hit a good cross when she drifts wide too. Brew-Smith is an impactful player at the club level.
Donsbach is a forward on the Seattle Reign Academy 09 GA team. She plays as a striker for the team. She likes to toe the line with the last defender and use her pace to get the advantage. Donsbach is good on the ball and does well in using her first touch to set her up for success – both when playing with her back to the goal and when receiving to face goal when she has space. There is a lot to like about her game. She’s had some games this season when she has been a bit unlucky with her finishing – she hits the post at a high rate. If she improves on that aspect of her game, she is going to be a top player in this class in the region.
Cummings is a forward on the PacNW 09 ECNL team. She was called into the US U14 Girls National Team ID Camp last year. She is also part of the Washington ODP team. She is a prolific scorer. Her right foot is her strong point and defenders would be wise to try to cut off that option – but she is just as smooth on her left and can beat players with pace when the opportunity in there. Her play at recent ODP events has shown her elite attributes in the attacking third as a difference-maker at a high level.
