The rosters for some of theses events are occasionally released on social media. The upcoming event in Massachusetts was posted on SoccerNovo.com.
Below is a scouting report on some of the names to know from this roster. The full roster is included at the bottom of the page.
Recupero is a midfielder on the FC Greater Boston Bolts U15 MLS Next team. He is a 2010 who is playing up an age group. He is also playing up an age group at the International level as he has taken on a key role with the 2009 US Youth National Team. Recupero is a rare talent in that regard as only a few players have leaped up a year at the International level – Cavan Sullivan being the most recent example. The midfielder from Massachusetts is a unique player profile from a US Soccer prospect. He plays as a defensive midfielder for his club side. He isn’t a physically imposing player – obviously playing up an age group contributes to this – but he is a dominant presence in the game. He reads and anticipates really well. He gets to the right spots and relies on his quickness of thought to win possession of the ball and retain control for his side. His club side is one of the better in MLS Next in the U15 age group. Recupero’s strength is his soccer smarts. He plays under control because he is thinking of the next play. Recupero is a top prospect in the country in his age group.
Quirino-Silva is a midfielder on the IFA New England U15 MLS Next team. He plays as an attacking midfielder. Dynamic on the ball, Quirino-Silva is an excellent dribbler and can take on players with the ball at his feet. His biggest strength is his passing and vision. He’s contributed quite a few goals this season thanks to his quality on the ball and his knack for putting the perfect weight on the pass. He is a solid defender – and good in the press as he relies on his quick feet to try to poke the ball away from the opposition. He can get caught on his heels at times with this approach as he shifts his weight, but the gamble is worth the reward. He is excellent in transition. Quirino-Silva is one to watch from the region for the quality he offers on the ball from the No. 10 position.
Ferraro is a defender on the Rochester NY FC MLS Next U15 team. I’ve seen him play center back for his club side. He lined up at left center back in the game against New England Revolution. His defensive technique is the strong point of his game. He is a good defender in using his body to shield players off the ball. I thought he was more active in using his hands to feel for the forward and then control where the opposition can go. He has quality on the ball too. He has a strong right leg and can switch the point of attack quickly. He is a target on set pieces for his side. Ferraro has shown the potential be a top center back for the region.
Winik is a defender on the IFA New England U15 MLS Next team. He plays right center back for his club team. He is the captain of his team. He is a very good defender. Fluid runner who can keep pace with any striker, Winik offers the quality to shutdown the opposition. Most of his highlights focus on his quality on the ball. He is very comfortable on the ball. Right footed with good vision, he is an excellent passer. He can take a touch too long at times with the ball at his feet, but he has the skills to get himself out of the jam for the most part. Winik has the tools to be considered one of the top defenders in the region.
Siqueira is a winger on the New England Revolution U15 MLS Next team. I’ve seen him play on the right wing for his club side. He is a capable finisher with his left, which makes him a difficult mark for outside backs. He can easily take defenders to the end line and whip in a cross with his right or he can play through the center if he is given too much space. Siqueira is a creative player in the final third and makes a difference in that area of the field.
