US Soccer calls in 80 players for this event with them broken into four different teams for the week-long training camp. Part of the focus of the event is giving the players the info on the Youth National Team pathway as these players have been identified during past Talent ID events in key markets.
The full roster for the event has not been released, but below are the players who have been confirmed by their clubs as taking part in the National Team camp. Check out a scouting report on a handful of the players below.
Taylor Ladd
Taylor Ladd
Ladd is listed as a forward on her player profile, but I’ve seen her play attacking midfielder fro her club side recently. She has active feet and plays a good all-around game. She is good in the press with her activity and energy. She has a tendency to play in only a forward facing manner, as she is constantly looking for that key pass for the goal. The preference for the attack is an endearing quality that has made her club team incredibly successful this season.
Georgianna Zuniga
Georgianna Zuniga
Zuniga is a midfielder on the Pajaro Valley Youth SC. She plays on a boys team at the club level. She is a box-to-box midfielder. She is right footed. She is used to playing quickly – one or two-touch soccer. She showcases her quick decision-making and skill on the ball. Zuniga is also an excellent ball-striker and capable of scoring from 30 yards out.
Pauline Maletz
Pauline Maletz
Maletz is a center forward for Virginia Union ECNL. She is a very smart player. She plays as a back-to-the-goal forward, but she isn’t the physical prototype of that position. She’s a bit smaller and quicker, but she’s very effective in that role. She’s excellent in her hold-up play and does well in her combination play. Her runs off the ball are among the best I’ve seen from a 2009 or 2010 forward. She is highly effective in that role thanks to her skill and smarts.
Addison Staats
Addison Staats
Staats is listed as a midfielder on her player profile. I’ve mainly seen her play outside back for her club team recently. Staats is an excellent one-v-one defender. She is physical at the point of contact and uses her body well in shielding the opposition off the ball. She is also comfortable with the ball on either foot. She is a good passer and has shown excellent vision in picking out the runs of the attacking trio – both down the line and on the diagonal.
Bella McLeod
Bella McLeod
McLeod is listed as a midfielder/defender on her player profile. I’ve seen her play as a winger and as an outside back. I think she’s better as an outside back. She is a good defender and matches up well against a variety of attacking types of players. She is quite skillful on the ball and does well keeping close control of the ball. She likes to get the ball off her feet quickly and tends to play as the provider to set up chances for her teammates.
Raquelle Renieris
Raquelle Renieris
Renieris is a defender on the SUSA G10 ECNL team. I’ve primarily seen her play left back. She is left footed. She is quick and anticipates the play so she is regularly first to the ball on the entry pass. Renieris has qualities that suggest she would be an excellent center back as well. She is calm on the ball. Plays with her head up and does well breaking pressure with her passing. She is one of the top defenders from this group.
Hannah Yu
Hannah Yu
Yu is a midfielder on Nationals GA. She plays as an attacking midfielder. She offers all of the key charactereists that scouts look for from a player in that position. She is a dynamic playmaker on the ball with quick feet and elusive dribbling skills. She has excellent vision and a feel for providing the key pass in the right moment. She has a better feel for where to be around the box as a goalscorer than any other midfielder I’ve scouted from this group. Yu is a midfielder with high potential.
Caroline Barrow
Caroline Barrow
Barrow is a listed as a midfielder on her player profile for AHFC. She is a wide player. She could be a winger or an outside back. She truly has a future in either role at this point. I believe she could shine as an outside back at this event. She is a tough player and does well in duels. She has a long stride and really runs away from players when she can open up her gait and get the ball in front of her. Barrow has a good first touch and can play out of tight spaces. Her versatility will make her a top standout from the week.
