<p>As basketball season comes to a close, the girls soccer season in Illinois is just beginning. The last two seasons were full of excitement. Back in June, O'Fallon and Glenwood scored game-winning goals in OT to bring a pair state championships to Southern Illinois. But there's plenty of Chicago-area programs hungry for their own piece of history.</p>

<p>With numerous key returners, O'Fallon, the defending 3A champions, take the top spot. The defense, led by GK [player_tooltip player_id='23490' first='Kendall' last='Joggerst'] and preseason first XI Defenders [player_tooltip player_id='33354' first='Finley' last='Scott'] and [player_tooltip player_id='23501' first='Lailyn' last='Patterson'], has yet to concede a goal this season. They're complemented offensively by the likes of [player_tooltip player_id='132621' first='Sadie' last='Mueller'] and Amanda Fischer. Barrington is slotted just behind them. This Fillies team is a mix of experience and youth. Freshman midfielder [player_tooltip player_id='153556' first='Aybree' last='Sanchez'] is an exciting prospect who's made her presence felt in her first week of high school soccer. </p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='97190' first='Rylann' last='Law'], [player_tooltip player_id='97139' first='Rowann' last='Law'], and [player_tooltip player_id='33350' first='Haden' last='Vlcek'] power 2A champs Glenwood into the third spot. With three dominating wins over good teams, Lyons deserve the fourth spot for now. </p>
