Continue ReadingThe All-Area teams are coming to a close, with the Los Angeles area being the last one. Here are the Best XI for the boys in the LA area, with three of them being committed to Division I soccer programs. Two of the three committed played for the same Oak Park team.
KEEPER: Evan Hansen Evan Hansen GK CA makes the cut here, as he was an All-CIF Southern Section Open Division selection. Hansen is a big keeper, with quick reactions and led Mira Costa to a 23-win season with 122 saves and less than a goal allowed per match.
DEFENDERS: Hansen’s teammate Sean Gauer joins him on the team, as one of three Mira Costa players. Gauer was an exceptional defender for the Mustangs and even had five assists. He is joined by Eddie De Leon, the heart of the Cathedral team and defensive leader, as well as Aidan Nixon Aidan Nixon 6'0" | D Loyola | 2024 CA from Loyola, the Mission League MVP and as solid an all-around defender as it gets.
MIDFIELDERS: Marco Bottene Marco Bottene 6'0" | M Mira Costa | 2024 #86 Nation CA , the Mira Costa senior, is a versatile player who can play in the midfield or as a forward. He scored 31 goals this season, had 12 assists and is playing at the University of Pennsylvania next year. Donovan Mark Donovan Mark 5'8" | M Crossroads Santa Monica | 2026 CA , the prodigious sophomore from Crossroads, joins the list along with three seniors which includes Gino Segura from Torrance, Alex Lugo, the midfielder with scoring prowess from Animo Leadership, along with UCLA bound Tamir Ratoviz Tamir Ratoviz M State #45 Nation CA of Oak Park. He had 16 goals and 12 assists.
FORWARDS: Tyler Cash Tyler Cash F CA makes two Oak Park players, and both are going DI as Cash is heading to UC San Diego. Cash finished the season with 19 goals and 15 assists. The second forward is Micah Rossen from Harvard-Westlake, who was an All-Mission League player.
