<p>The ECNL Boys League hosted a national event last weekend in Round Rock reuniting 90 teams in the 16s and 17s age groups for three days of action.</p>

<p>Prep Soccer Texas covered the first two days of the event, following several teams from the Lone Star State as they took the field against opponents from other states and provided daily coverage with photos and a report on the individual standouts of the day. </p>

The team's captain, the right-sided center back displayed great understanding of the game, knowing when to drop back and cover his teammates or to step forward and put pressure on opposing attackers. Mercado was effective with his interceptions and played with good energy defensively, winning duels and protecting the penalty box with good efficiency. Very tall and physical, Lowe was dominant in the air, but also showed good footwork to defend outside the penalty box, using his body in the battle for space and to cut lanes. The center back also displayed great aerial ability on both penalty boxes, clearing crosses on defense and getting dangerous headers on offense. Vuong proved to be pretty resourceful when playing defense as he used his size to dominate in the air and win physical duels, but also displayed great mobility to defend in transition and chase attackers well outside the penalty box. One of the team's captains, he played a major leadership role for them, constantly instructing his teammates and keeping the team on alert. Zamora played as a right-sided center back and was very solid defensively, standing out with his positioning and his firmness to win duels. Playing on the left side of the team's defense, he displayed an interesting ability to read the game and make interceptions while also doing a good job in 1v1 duels. Miggally also proved to be an excellent fit with the team's possession-heavy style, connecting good short and long passes from the backline.
