Continue ReadingHampton Roads has featured several players over the years that have become notable names in the area. Even within the current Classes of ’24 and ’25, several names have popped up amongst the premier players not just in the state, but along the East Coast. Now with the emergence of ECNL and MLS Next as the premier pathways for players to ascend to the highest levels of the game in the US, the game changes drastically for those who have the ability (and the financial fortune) to make it.
However, the 757 offers so much more to the game than just starlit Sophomores and fabulous Freshmen. Here we want to point out those that carved pathways and found their own way into the realm of notable achievers during their high school careers.
- Graem Sines Graem Sines 5'9" | GK Salem | 2025 VA , Salem High School (Virginia Beach) – Junior Goalkeeper – Graem finds his way into the fold with his outstanding play and admirable defending of the fort during the first half of Salem’s Spring 24. This includes helping lead the Sundevils to an initial Top 15 ranking in both the local newspaper poll and our poll at 757 Soccer Chat. In their five victories, Graem averages .80 goals against and boasts two shutouts. A standout for VB United U23’s, Graem is aiming to help his Sundevil squad secure a playoff birth this spring and advance within the Regional tournament. Beyond the pitch, he is currently working towards vocational trade education as well as continuing on within the semi pro ranks.
2. Jason-David Nofsker, Landstown High School (Virginia Beach) – Senior Center Back – Jason-David arrives as a standout for a dominant Landstown squad that has strong aspirations for a state title in VHSL Class 6. To start the season, the Eagles have allowed only 6 goals in eight matches, with 4 shutouts to boot. Jason-David has been directly in the center of that success, proving to be a defensive stalwart with his ball winning abilities while also contributing key passes on the offensive end. He intends to put those abilities to use and help the Eagles find silverware on the pitch before attending Old Dominion in the fall.
3. Aidan Meister, Indian River High School (Chesapeake) – Senior Central Midfield – Aidan makes this list as an aspiring Region standout and engine for the Indian River Braves in Class 5A. A prolific passer who can also find the net, Aidan brings a boost to the Braves midfield for this season as well as the VB United Reserves. While looking to find a new home to play soccer in the fall, ideally at a college or University within Virginia, the chase for the playoffs with his high school teammates is his current passion.
4. Ben Curulla, First Colonial High School (Virginia Beach) – Senior Forward – With both State Cup Final and High School Regional recognition within the past calendar year, Ben has solidified himself as one of the top forwards within the Beach district and VHSL Class 5. Through five matches, Curulla has found the net twice as well as provided two assists as the Patriots sit undefeated towards the top of the Beach district. One of his goals was a solo run to seal a victory against defending state champs Princess Anne, and he is sure to find more tallies throughout their district schedule. While there are no current plans to play collegiately, Ben is headed to UVA and plans to continue playing in some capacity while there.
5. Cameron Lambert, Kempsville High School (Virginia Beach) – Senior Forward – The Methodist University (NC) commit has truly come alive this season, finding his big moments when the lights are shining brightest. While scoring his goals against some of VHSL Class 5A’s toughest opponents, Cameron has helped propel the Chiefs back into the respected realm of Beach opponents, and no one is coming into Kempsville’s stadium feeling as though it was an easy trip. Lambert hopes to make a big enough impact for the Chiefs to squeeze into the 5A playoffs, where they have just as much chance as any other squad of finding their way to the state tournament.
