Some of the most promising players of the Lone Star State were in action in Georgetown, playing big roles for their teams as they battled for the state title and we’ll take the next few days to recognize some of them who stood out with strong performances.
Division 6A saw the Seven Lakes Spartans from Katy successfully defend the title they won last season by taking Flower Mound down 2-1 in overtime. Seven Lakes claimed back-to-back state titles with a campaign of 25 wins, one loss and two ties.
These are some of the players who showed a strong game in the division:
Aidan Morrison

Seven Lakes’ senior midfielder came up big for them in Georgetown having a major impact on both of the team’s victories in the tournament. A very technical and intelligent player, Morrison set the team’s offense up in the semifinals against Duncanville, assisting in the team’s first goal in their 2-0 win. The No. 10 was even more clutch in the Championship Game, sending an inch-perfect free kick shot from 30 yards out into the back of the net in overtime to give the Spartans the title. He was the tournament’s MVP.
After missing most of the season while dealing with injuries, Stasic returned and made a major impact in the final matches of Seven Lakes’ campaign. A forward with great intensity, he energized the team’s offense and played a major role in their press. Stasic’s finishing ability was in full display during the semifinals against Duncanville, when he scored both the team’s goals with shots from outside the penalty box. Stasic also scored Seven Lakes’ first goal in the Championship Game against Flower Mound.

One of the most consistent and productive goalkeepers in the state, Vera was huge for Seven Lakes during their matches in Georgetown. The goalkeeper made some big-time saves and contributed to the team’s victories at the State Tournament. The senior was put to work against Duncanville in the semifinals, making six saves, and got another three in the Championship Game against Flower Mound.
Very active and intelligent, deLeeuw was a big part of Flower Mound’s offense in Georgetown. The senior forward used his ability to circulate in the final third to create chances and was dangerous in both matches. DeLeeuw was particularly active in the Championship Game against Seven Lakes, when he fired a match-high five shots and scored the team’s goal with a header in a critical moment of the match.
Simpson was Flower Mound’s most influential player in the State Tournament, being involved with the game on both sides of the ball. The senior defender’s long throw-ins set up the plays that resulted in each of the team’s three goals in Georgetown, giving him three assists in two matches. Simpson also did a good job defensively, playing with energy and determination.
