Chan is aiming for 2010, 2015 and 2016 girls teams, hopeful to have some boys teams as well as a juniors program. The team is looking to focus on player development and getting athletes ready to compete at the highest levels.

"There is a lot of talent in the Boise area and we aim to help them develop to their full potential," Chan said. "Our focus will be on helping these players develop, getting them identified and helping them play at the next level because there are a lot of athletes around this area that if they have the proper training and development, they can go on to play after high school."

The mission for Boise Shock is for players to be the best they can be, and the focus on player development will be total development. These are hard-working players in the Treasure Valley work hard, have great attitudes, but need to be taught to read and analyze the game along with refining their technical skills. This is where the club will fill that gap.

"The soccer landscape in the Boise area has so much potential," Chan said. There are a lot of quality athletes that are very talented that can go for with soccer, but they need guidance and quality coaching to be successful at the highest levels."

This is not a knock on the clubs in the area as there are great clubs with great coaches and directors. Boise Shock are just looking to elevate an already established level, and to take the next step in showing athletes the path forward to achieving what can be done at their highest level.

"I want to offer something different that would help raise the overall level of soccer in Idaho," Chan said. "We went to develop the total player with their understanding of the game, show them what it takes to be successful, and how, if they invest in themselves, they can then reach all their goals. But they have to be shown the way to compete at the highest level and at the college level, if they chose to do so."
