A beautiful area, not far from Lake Tahoe and with a lot to do outside, it seems like a quaint, perhaps even sleepy place. But in the city of El Dorado Hills, Oak Ridge High’s girls soccer program has established itself as one of the top programs in Northern California. This is quite a feat considering 50,000 people live in El Dorado Hills. On that team, there are six players who hold the key to their very bright futures.
Georgia Freitas, Defender, Class of 2027
A defender on the 2009 San Juan ECNL team, Freitas made an impact at Oak Ridge High as a freshman, which says a lot given the status of the program. She is a gifted outside defender, with a wicked left foot that can go for goal or whip in a cross. She is incredibly technical, showing the ability to use her dribble or pick a pass. She’s a powerful defender and she is an incredibly thoughtful and smart player.
Macey Gaunt Macey Gaunt D CA , Defender, Class of 2027
Gaunt plays on the 2008 San Juan ECNL team, and like Freitas, made an impact at Oak Ridge as a freshman. A tenacious defender, Gaunt plays with aggression, but plays in control and with intelligence. She’s very hard to beat 1v1, understands when to step, and where to be to cut off passing lines. She is incredibly talented, athletic and plays with a lot of confidence.
Hannah Heinlein Hannah Heinlein D CA , Defender, Class of 2025
Heinlein is one of the top players in Northern California, and is already committed to play at the University of Minnesota. She is on the NorCal PDP Gothia Cup roster, and for good reason. She is a total stalwart on the defensive end. Impossible to beat, always alert and switched on. She keeps the backline organized. She leads naturally, as she is both vocal and athletically gifted. She is very physically dominant as an attacker is not going to be more physical than she is. She plays for the San Juan 2007 ECNL team.
Elhom Khursand Elhom Khursand null | M State #74 Nation CA , Forward, Class of 2025
Khursand joins Heinlein on that excellent San Juan 2007 ECNL team, and she is also already committed to play after high school, giving her pledge to the University of California. The future Golden Bear is a top player in Northern California and an All-Conference ECNL player. She is very attack-minded, always looking to push the limits of a defense and make life hard on opponents. She is a natural goal-scorer who is explosive and shows lightning quickness.
Kyra Long, Midfielder, Class of 2025
Long is a midfielder that plays for the El Dorado Hills Soccer Club’s Gold team, and she is a very underrated player in the area. She is a very hard-working player, who has an engine that does not stop as she will give you her all. She always has energy and will run for a full 80. She is a great distributor and shows great creativity in the midfield.
Annalise Pengel, Defender, Class of 2025
Pengel plays at Folsom Lake Surf for the 2007 ECRL team and is a top class defender. Attackers have a hard time dealing with her because she is very strong and physical and they cannot simply push her around. She’s also smart as she has an understanding of the pitch and where to be, and can see things happening in front of her. She works very hard, never quitting and is an excellent leader on the defense.
