From the ability to skin a defender, to push forward and blast a shot with pace and accuracy and the ability to play a perfect ball, these five midfielders from California's class of 2027 are excellent talents.

[player_tooltip player_id='112214' first='Madison' last='Eguia'], Defender/Midfielder, Slammers HBK

Eguia plays for two very legit programs, featuring for Slammers HB Koge and playing high school at Orange Lutheran. She is a versatile player who can play both defensively and in the midfield. Regardless of what level she is playing at, she can pass and pass well. She can really help transition quickly from the back line and as a midfielder she can help build the attack quickly. She is great about finding space and operating in it, not feeling panicked when pressured and she is so precise that she leads her teammates to space with well-played balls. She has a terrific first touch, is technically gifted and shows a great understanding of the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='111241' first='Gabrielle' last='Ferraro'], Midfielder, San Juan SC

Ferraro demonstrates excellent foot skills as her first touch or ability to bring down a ball with ease allows her to beat defenders because the ball stays put. Once she is in possession, she makes defenders miss with ease, usually yo-yo'ing them into knots. She is so calm and poised on the ball that she can easily be described as a low heartbeat player. Her shot from distance is a thing of beauty as it has power and accuracy, and she scores with it routinely. She's so good in possession that it is like she's playing keep away from defenders.

[player_tooltip player_id='111090' first='Teagan' last='Kaefer'], Midfielder, Los Altos SC

Kaefer changes direction so well, and with ease. She is tall, has long strides and seems to glide past defenders. Her ability to stop and start allows her to free up so much space, and she shows the ability to play a perfect ball into space or continue on and go for goal. She has a powerful shot that she likes to show off and it is accurate. She's a pesky defender who has a great engine as she stays on the hip of opponents trying to make their way through her midfield. She is very strong off the ball, and equally strong on the ball as she is also very neat and tidy.

[player_tooltip player_id='111109' first='Nina' last='Khoury'], Midfielder, Santa Rosa United

Khoury is someone who flew under the radar for a while, but her talent cannot be denied. Playing in Sonoma County leaves her less opportunity for exposure, but the word is getting out. She shows great technical ability, excellent passing ability, and shows great patience and decision making. She does not force things or take unnecessary chances. She is a fierce competitor and loves to get into the air and when duels, and once she wins one or dispossesses a player, she is great at keeping the ball and then switching play. She is very smart and shows great tactical awareness.

[player_tooltip player_id='112225' first='Jorden' last='Swain'], Midfielder/Defender, San Diego Surf

Swain has excellent fast-twitch response and also shows good instincts. She makes subtle movements to make defenders miss when she's on the ball, and when she's off the ball she makes incredibly well-timed runs into the exact area she should. She loves to get forward from her midfield position and she is an excellent finisher. Her instincts get her to the right spots at the right time, and she reacts and responds to what defenders do almost before they know they are going to do it.

From the ability to skin a defender, to push forward and blast a shot with pace and accuracy and the ability to play a perfect ball, these five midfielders from California's class of 2027 are excellent talents.
