PrepSoccer Spotlight: Dalia Sabet

It has long been a dream for [player_tooltip player_id='111776' first='Dalia' last='Sabet'] to succeed at the game of soccer, and it seems like she is doing just that. Playing Division I soccer and fighting for championships is something she has wanted for a long time now for the player who shows vision, grace under pressure and selflessness is going to get her chance. In this PrepSoccer Spotlight, we will learn how she got there.    Sabet has been around soccer since the age of two, and despite being only four years old, the 16-year old from Twinsburg, Ohio can remember what sealed the deal for her in terms of her love for the game. That was watching the 2012 European Championships with her dad as she was inspired to emulate what she saw on TV.   From then on, it was hours in the back yard, working on the basics and then on to more advanced stuff. It is no wonder that she developed such a knack for the game and such advanced skills seeing as how she worked so hard at it.   "I realized I might be good when I when I made the tryouts for my first competitive club team, The Rise," Sabet said. "Coaches, other players and parents would comment that I was pretty good and I started to believe it when I made my first ECNL team in 2020.   Sabet is a very talented player as she is an attacking midfielder who can also play out wide as a No. 11 or No. 7. She shows great composure on the ball and she shows great patience and vision from her No. 10 spot. Regardless of where she is on the pitch, when it comes to finishing she does it with calmness and coolness as she never panics in front of goal. She can score from range, and when she hits a shot from distance, it looks so free and easy. She also deserves a lot of credit for how clever she is and how technical she is with the ball. She shows very good speed and agility to go with the fact that she is not afraid to be physical when matching up with backs and defensive midfielders. She has greatly improved since she was featured in 2023 by <a href="https://prepsoccer.com/2023/11/three-elite-players-from-ohio/">PrepSoccer</a>.   "I think I am a better player now than a year ago," Sabet said. "I attribute it to making sure I spent time with the ball every day and joining a training performance program of lifting weights, sprinting and agility training. Since the game became more physical and faster, I really needed to concentrate on that aspect of my game and performance training helped me achieve it."   She realized early that it would be a tough journey to become a top player, as it is not just handed to you. You get out of it what you put into it. After she had to miss events, couldn't hang out with friends, get up early before school and on weekends, she understood how much hard work it would be. A lifting regiment, speed and agility training are just a few things behind the scenes that the fans don't see happening. But it is what a player does when nobody is watching that makes the difference.   Sabet's hard work has paid off as she committed to play at Purdue-Fort Wayne where she will play Division I soccer after high school.
