With the club season nearly here, and acting as a precursor to the high school season, there are seniors in every corner of California that are ready to leave their indelible mark before the next step of their journey ensues. These eight players are special.

Caitlin Asaro, Forward/Midfielder/Defender, South Valley Surf/Garces Memorial

Asaro is a selfless player. As a junior at Garces Memorial in Bakersfield, she moved to defense despite playing midfield and forward as a club player. She can do it all, as she can score, doing so with either foot, control the midfield, and lock it down defensively. She is a dangerous player when the ball is moving forward because of her knack for getting into dangerous positions and finishing when the ball finds her. She facilitates and moves, and keeps looking for vacated space, or she trails a play and finds the soft spot in the defense. With the ability to do it all, Asaro will be a top player in California as a senior.

[player_tooltip player_id='19715' first='Kennadi' last='Borg'], Attacking Midfielder/Forward, MVLA/Leigh

She was more of a No. 10 at Leigh, and MVLA plays here there or as a No. 11. When she's out wide, if you are a defender near the far post, and you don't know where she is, she's gonna score. She's very lethal on the far post as she gets into dangerous spots and finishes well, whether with her head or if the ball falls at her feet. When she's pushing up field, she likes to push fast as she is very fluid with the ball at her feet. She likes the 1-2 game as she makes a quick pass and finds space and looks to get the ball back. An unselfish player with the ability to create for herself and teammates, the UC San Diego commit is a special player.

[player_tooltip player_id='19248' first='Cassidy' last='Drago'], Forward, San Diego Surf/Temecula Valley

Drago is heading to BYU after her senior year. She is very unique in that she finds a variety of ways to score, whether it be the classic blast with the boot, the header or just a slight touch or flick. She sees the game better than most, it seems to slow down for her and she is light years ahead of her opponents. This gives her time and space. She also has vision as she moves the ball quickly and instinctively knows what to do next. She plays the game hard, she plays with passion, grit and determination and will be a top senior in California.

Kaia Diedrichs, Forward, 49er United/Colfax

When you watch Diedrichs, it almost looks at times likes she's playing around with defenders. She weaves in and out with ease, she displays excellent body control and she keeps the ball right at her feet. Her first touch is excellent, and she can score from range, or carry the ball, create a 1v1 and slot a neat ball home. She's actually quite unselfish as well, as she will drag defenders with her, let gaps open up and then play a clever little ball to a teammate. She is a true talent.

[player_tooltip player_id='78006' first='Madeline' last='Herniter'], Defender, Beach FC/Palos Verdes

Herniter is a special player. The Georgia commit is fun to watch, and it starts with watching how clean of a tackler she is. She is so smooth and exact that even her hard tackles don't look like they are questionable. She gets her tackles right. She can also carry the ball from the central defense, or from the outside, which she will move out and play sometimes. She can drive up the pitch as a center back and wait for the slightest shift forward from the defense and then play a perfect ball to a teammate making a run. She's athletic and clever and can create space and she is very good when it comes to scoring from headers.

[player_tooltip player_id='19905' first='Maylen' last='Montoya'], Midfielder, Pleasanton Rage/Amador Valley

Montoya is a University of Washington commit and she almost seems like a reluctant superstar. She's not trying to be glamorous or standout on the pitch. She just likes to do her job, and she does it well. She is incredibly technically sound, one of the most technically sound members of California's class of 2025. Everything she does is neat and tidy. She has a great first touch, the ball almost never leaves her feet and she is precise and exact when she picks a pass. She's great creating on the ball as well, as she can make defenders miss with an ease of movements and she has the ability to beat the keeper in many ways.

[player_tooltip player_id='54194' first='Madelyn' last='Saruwatari'], Forward, Future FC/Santiago-Corona

Saruwatari will be playing at Point Loma Nazarene after her senior year. She has an incredibly wonderful strike, as she strikes it clean and with power. She puts it right where she wants to, allowing her to score often from range. She's shifty and quick, changing pace and direction to lose defenders and make her way through traffic. With the ball at her feet, she is a true force. Her ability to split defenders or turn from one, is remarkable. She creates space with such ease.

Vivian Zacarias, Attacking Midfielder, Slammers HBK/Los Alamitos

The Colorado commit is a big moment, impact player. She is very creative and shines when it matters, taking on the responsibility of making plays. She likes to get downhill fast and likes to go straight at defenders. If they are wrong-footed she shakes them and if they collapse, she delivers a perfect ball to a teammate to keep forward momentum. She is incredibly skilled, very athletic and works hard to put the team first.
