Five High School Players to Watch in the PNW

<p>Its TIME!! Girls High School soccer in the PNW has finally begun in some areas this week. However, the bulk of the schedule is starting play this weekend and into next week. There were many household name schools in large leagues that moved up or moved down in classification this year. We are about to see some fantastic matchups and possibly new rivalries formed with these new changes and Prep Soccer Washington is going to be there to cover all the action.</p>   <p>The WIAA 2024/2025 schedule kicks off with some major non-conference matchups over the coming weeks. Most of these matches feel like we are getting a sneak peak into what the State Tournament has in store for us later this season. Here are five players to watch in the upcoming NPSL, SPSL and KinCo 4A non-conference schedule that may be vying for post season accolades.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Stella is a quality defender who has great vision and field awareness. She plays Club ball for PAC NW ECNL-RL and was recently named to the ECNL All-Regional League Northwest U16 team. Stella is part of a strong back line for her High School, Auburn Riverside. She specializes in corners where she has scored multiple Olimpico's in HS and Club. Beyersdorf is strong on and off the ball and has a non stop motor which results in constant quality possession. Look for Stella to build on her fantastic freshman year where she took home 2nd Team All League honors.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/SarahBee1122/status/1722293230002458731 </div></figure>   <p>Stella and the 6x reigning NPSL Champion, Auburn Riverside Ravens (NPSL), will host Battle Ground (Greater St. Helens) on September 9th at 6pm.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">The senior Captain is the backbone of the WHS HS defense. Her ability to snuff out danger anywhere in the box is her bread and butter. The aerial force that Ally displays on defense is elite but only rivaled by her ability to knock in header goals from corner kicks and set pieces at will. If the ball is in the air around her, it is likely hers to own. Receiving 1st Team All League honors as center back in each of her first 3 seasons was just the beginning. She capped off her 2023 HS season with KingCo DPOY and 1st Team All State accolades as well. The University of Oregon commit, is slated for a big season to finish out her HS career. Woodinville HS has hopes of playing deep into the post season.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/2025Ally/status/1723754384381956422 </div></figure>   <p>Laccinole and her Woodinville Falcons (KingCo) will battle Rogers HS (SPSL) at Pop Keeney stadium on September 10th at 7:30pm.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='163020' first='Giovanna' last='Hansen'] has solidified herself as a force on the pitch at Mount Si HS in North Bend, WA. The senior forward has an eye for goal and a shot that can terrorize any goalkeeper. If that wasn't enough to deal with, her speed is unrivaled and most defenses cannot contain her. "G", as her friends and family call her, is a top player in Washington State and should be at the peak of her game in the coming HS season. Hansen also plays on the talented Crossfire (XF) ECNL 06/07 team that will kick off ECNL play in the Spring. Si Wildcats (KingCo) take on the Lincoln HS Lynx (Metro) at home on September 7th at 11am.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Recently named Team Captain for the 2024 season, Taylor will help lead the Spartans on the back line. Mentink has a defensive prowess that is instinctual rather than taught. She has speed on the dribble that is difficult to contain and with her pinpoint accuracy on the pass, she is a dominant player on the pitch. Taylor received 2nd Team All Conference (Northwest) ECNL honors for the 2023/24 season while playing for her club, Washington Premier ECNL 07. Look for Taylor to be a menace for opposing forwards this season.</p>   <p class="text-gray-700"></p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://x.com/taylor_mentink/status/1709593302792839321 </div></figure>   <p>Taylor and her Sumner Spartans (SPSL) will travel to Maple Valley to battle a tough Tahoma Bears (NPSL) team on September 10th at 7pm.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Last season, Layla solidified her role as a dominate center back in Washington State and she received 2nd Team All State honors for her efforts. Bejar and her defensive group only allowed 3 goals in the regular season with 13 shutouts. Layla is a ball hawk and is consistently first to any ball in her area. She plays with unmatched strength at her position and many of the top forwards can't handle her size and speed. Layla can also score goals when the opportunity presents itself. She is sneaky quick and has a powerful shot during set pieces.
