Best Players of the Top Ranked Teams: Asheboro High School

The second article of this series focuses on the <a href="https://www.maxpreps.com/nc/soccer/rankings/1/">19th-ranked team in the state</a>, <a href="https://www.maxpreps.com/nc/asheboro/asheboro-blue-comets/soccer/">Asheboro High School</a>. Asheboro finishes in this position after a fantastic season that sees them win 27 out of 30 matches. They finish as their conference's undefeated champion, the 3A West champion, and the <a href="https://www.nchsaa.org/bracket/2024-3a-mens-soccer-brackets/">3A playoff</a> state runner-up. In the 30 matches played, which include friendlies, they managed to score 163 goals. Asheboro High School has already been mentioned in a <a href="https://prepsoccer.com/2024/12/3a-playoff-best-teams-best-players/?itm_source=wp-parsely-content-helper">previous article</a> but more players deserve mention in this one.    Cameron is one of the best striker prospects in the entire country, being the second-highest top-scorer in the country. Somehow, his statistics still don't show how good he is. An incredibly fast player and his long legs make him difficult to keep up with. His dribbling is another stellar attribute he demonstrates. He skips past defenders like a hot knife through butter, and he always leaves himself in prime position to shoot. Positioning off the ball is also a fantastic virtue of his, with him gravitating to open spaces for fun. He understands not only the strengths of the teammate passing to him but also the weaknesses of the defenders marking him. The most remarkable attribute he has however is his finishing. He always seems to find the target, even if no one else sees a shooting opportunity. He scores for fun and makes it look easy.     Cameron's partner in crime in attack, Diego is a spectacular attacking midfielder. His low center of gravity helps him massively in the manner and position in which he plays. He pivots on his axis with ease, helping him get out of uncomfortable situations in an instant. This also helps his dribbling since he generates space for himself before opposing defenders can even react to him getting the ball. His passes are also fantastic, finding anyone who is running into space easily. When he connects these passes with "Cam", what results is almost equal to a goal. If he isn't the one creating plays, he either is releasing the ball to someone who can or he finishes them himself. His goalscoring ability for a midfielder is great, which makes him a complete threat in the final third.     Juan may not have the experience or the games played that his peers do, but his potential is too evident to ignore. He's a right-back who defends with the commitment anyone wants to see from their defender. The way he intercepts balls out wide is great, making it hard for wingers to advance past him. When his team is pushed back, he sticks onto his attacker until he wins the ball back. In attack, he proves to be incredibly helpful. His ability to create plays from deep is impressive, always finding a teammate in the final third. If he's joining in the attack, he presents himself as an extra option out wide. His chance creation is also great, especially for his seeming inexperience.     Ozmar is a deep-playing midfielder who is a crucial element in making his team function. He's brave and committed, always looking to have the ball at his feet regardless of who's in possession. A relentless midfielder that never leaves the opposition alone, he provides great help for the defense. His ability to turn defense into attack is fantastic too. When he receives the ball, he always looks to move it forward. Whether it be a pass or a dribble, he manages to advance play wonderfully. His playmaking his great too, finding either one of his team's top scorers with ease from anywhere.    Asheboro High School is the second team in this series.
