The high school soccer season continues to progress at full pace in the state of Texas and this past weekend was a busy one, with many tournaments taking place across the Lone Star State as teams prepare for the start of district play.

One of them was the I-10 Shootout, a traditional event held in the Katy region, which this year reunited 64 varsity teams from the Houston area and beyond for three days of action between Thursday and Sunday. Prep Soccer Texas followed the action closely, watching five matches in the first two days of the event.

Aleshire helped her team Dawson progress from the first round of the Cougar Bracket with a 3-0 win over Foster. Although her backline did a very good job of protecting her, the senior goalkeeper was there when her team needed her, handling some long-distance shots efficiently. Aleshire was always ready to step up and leave the penalty box to deal with long passes and had a very smooth shift between the posts. The goalkeeper also used her feet well when she had to and did a very good job of putting the ball back in play after saves, sending quick, accurate throws to her teammates.

Callaway's team Cy Woods lost to Kingwood 3-2 in the first round of the Cougar Bracket, but the goalkeeper was still one of the best players on her side. The senior had a lot to deal with with Kingwood dominating possession and punishing forward and she did a very solid job, using her long frame to make stops and displaying quickness to leave the goal and intercept long passes behind the backline. Callaway wasn't to blame for any of Kingwood's goals and also produced well in possession, connecting nice passes out of the back.

Kingsley was in goal for the Friendswood team that lost 3-1 to Atascocita in the second round of the Falcon Bracket. She was under heavy pressure during the match, with Atascocita strongly dominating possession and consistently creating chances, and made some impressive saves, which kept her team in the game. Kingsley showed to be very technical and reliable, making difficult stops and not giving rebounds up. She was unlucky in Atascocita's first goal, as the wind heavily altered the path of the ball and sent a long-distance shot into the back of the net, and couldn't have done any better to stop the other two.

Rosetta helped her team Shadow Creek come from behind to beat Clements 2-1 in the Consolation round of the Spartan Bracket. A vocal leader for the team, the junior communicated extremely well with her teammates, keeping them sharp and motivated, even when the Lady Sharks were trailing. Between the posts, Rosetta showed some interesting skills, using her length well to make saves and displaying impressive reflexes. She also did a good job when she had to leave the penalty box to intercept long passes.

Campbell had a solid shift with Clements in their 2-1 loss to Shadow Creek in the Consolation round of the Spartan Bracket. A goalkeeper who picks simple over complex every time she goes for the ball, she made some nice saves throughout the match and kept her team in the game for as long as she could, confidently catching shots and dealing with crosses. Campell showed impressive explosiveness to go for the ball to save a penalty kick and wasn't to blame in neither of Shadow Creek's goals.
