In a back and forth contest featuring some beautiful play in an open game, it was the Blessed Trinity Titans securing a 2-1 home victory over the visiting Sequoyah Chiefs. This game had everything, from spectacular goals to hard and controversial challenges, mixed in with a few nutmegs as well. Here are some of the players that stood out in Thursday evenings non-conference matchup.

The man of the match for me, Whit dominated the midfield in the attacking center mid role for the Titans. He smashed home the game's opening goal in the roof of the net from around 10 yards out. His dribbling in the midfield was on point, getting around many defenders. He has some effective combination dribbling, combining multiple dribble moves in a chain. He distributed the ball well and rarely made a bad decision when on the ball. A player who shows high promise to have an outstanding senior campaign.

Gabriel is a fast striker whose quick to get in behind defenders. He assisted the opening goal after winning the ball in the back due to his high press. This was a big focal point of the Titans game plan in the contest, to press the Chiefs back line and force mistakes. Gabriel was putting in maximum effort to keep the press up and pressure opposing defenders. He also has a great first touch on him, bringing down lots of long balls and crosses right onto his foot.

An anchor of a center defensive midfielder, Martin constantly won possession back for his team in the midfield throughout the game. He controls the ball well at feet, never taking too big of a touch. A very confident player who always plays with his head up, scanning the pitch for defenders and open teammates. Martin pulled off one of the cleanest nutmegs I have seen this season. Faking a cut to the left before rolling the ball with the inside of his foot between the legs of the defender, skipping past him. I think this shows just how much confidence in his abilities the young sophomore has, and I believe his ceiling for his next few seasons is extremely high. A player to watch for in upcoming matches.

Aidan is a crafty center midfielder. A smart player who is very intuitive, he makes good decisions on and off the ball. When on the ball he has an ability to pick out open teammates down the pitch from yards out, and off the ball he is constantly moving into open space to receive passes. He also has a menacing shot off his right boot, testing the keeper multiple times forcing some superb saves. He can welly one from quite some yards out.

Michael made some stellar saves in Thursday nights contest. He had some diving stops on efforts that seemed destined for the top corner, only to be tipped over the bar by Michael. The one goal he conceded in the contest was from the penalty spot, a sublime penalty that you couldn't fault him for. With strong communication, great hands, and a solid frame with athletic abilities, Michael is one of the top keepers in GHSA right now.
