US Soccer identifies top talent in Georgia

The event featured 28 players in the 2010 and 2011 age groups as well as one player from the 2009 age group. Needs to improve on his footwork when tracking crosses - in order to offer a more secure vertical control of the box. His club has been a development hub in Georgia with a number of players passing through there on the way to trials with professional clubs. They are clearly doing something right. Ramirez is one of two players from his team on this roster, Owen Piedrasanta is the other. He also plays on a high school team that has three players on this roster. He plays on some good teams is the takeaway here. Ramirez's game reminds me a bit of Alejandro Zendejas. There is this pause-go move and drag-cut move that feel very similar between two around the same age. Ramirez's passing qualities stand out on game film. He's quick to make decisions when under pressure and does well in checking his shoulders before receiving the ball. I've seen him left center back mainly. He's right footed. He's an aggressive, fearless defender. He will fly into a challenge with full force. Pichardo's toughness is on full display in game film. He does not back down from any challenge and is very willing to get stuck in whenever there is a long touch. He will likely be in the spotlight at the Talent ID Center against some talented attackers. Pichardo also offers quality on the ball. Rivera likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender and use his pace to get behind the defense. He can drift quite a bit during the game as he is active in earning touches on the ball. His physical profile lets him get away with it at this point, but if he wants to be a top forward in this class he needs to elevate his speed of play against older competition. The defensive instincts suggest a future in the center back spot - if he can't adjust to the pace of play in the center of the field at the highest level. Thornton's shown every indication that he can be an impactful player in the No. 8 role at the next level too. He's calm on the ball and makes quick decisions.
