GHSA Boys Players of the Week – Week 5

With a physical frame, Gavin can take the ball forward on go on runs without losing possession and being a man down on a counter attack. His defensive qualities looked sharp against Sequoyah and Lassiter, where he made many last ditch challenges and interceptions to thwart opposing attacks. The attacking midfielder/striker is a technical player who mixes skill with pace to bang home goals. His quick footwork allows him to create space and open up the field while his pace allows him to easily get in behind defenders and through on goal. Earlier in the season I watched Jamex play against South Forsyth, and he seemed to be just a step behind defenders going forward. That has definitely changed, as against Parkview Jamex looked a step above the opposing defenders and was ferocious in front of net. The striker rarely misses a step, playing at a high level almost every game and giving maximum effort for the badge. He frequently presses high to gain possession back, showing the motor that the player displays. Alexander is a controlled and composed center mid that offers a lot of good qualities on both the attacking and defending side of the ball. Good technique, footwork, and positioning in the midfield are all a part of Alexander's offensive game, alongside playing some superb long balls up top for his strikers. Defensively he is very sound when it comes to intercepts short passes or winning balls in the air.
