A thrilling rivalry battle that had the fans involved since the opening whistle, the North Forsyth Raiders fell short away against the South Forsyth War Eagles. A 2-0 victory for the home team seemed deserved as the War Eagles were creating lots of threatening chances and won the possession battle. The War Eagles now improve to 7-1 on their season and the Raiders fall to an even 3-3 on the year. Here are some of the players that stood out from Tuesday nights contest.

Matthew really looked the part in the midfield for the War Eagles tonight. In a tightly contested bout, the game is won and lost in the midfield, and the War Eagles were able to control the midfield thanks to Matthew. A physical center mid, Matthew is very composed on the ball and rarely gives away possession. He also possess some good attacking positioning when going forward, scoring the War Eagles second goal of the game from a header in the box after the ball struck the bar. His knack for getting in the right place shows a good reading of the game, an intangible that most coaches struggle to teach players.

One of the captains of this War Eagles squad, Carter is a dominant center back whose presence itself can be enough to throw attackers off. Although Carter may not be your typical tall, big center back, he makes up for it with his physicality and crunching challenges. Carter effectively shut down many of the Raiders attacking chances, and won possession back for his team multiple times when he needed to.

Mackane was another forceful presence in the midfield for the War Eagles Tuesday night. Mackane is a defensive mid who excels with his passing and defending. Another physical presence for the War Eagles, Mackane effectively uses his tall frame to win lots of 50/50 battles in the midfield and hold them off well when regaining possession. His passing looked superb tonight, picking out some good switch passes and some effective link up play as well. A backbone in the midfield for this South Forsyth squad.

Although he didn't manage to notch a goal or assist Tuesday night, Ethan still proved to be a problem for the Raiders defense. He constantly makes runs to draw defenders away, creates space when on the ball with his dribbling, and has some nice quick passing with other attackers. He can finish at an elite level too, narrowly missing the mark on some long range efforts outside the box. Also a weapon in the air, getting above defenders to get his head on the ball.

The captain of this Raiders team, Fysher is a talented center back who really gets stuck in on the defensive end. He frequently makes well timed challenges to win possession back, clears the ball out of the box well, and is good in the air winning headers on corners and crosses. He plays with confidence brining the ball out the back, passing between teammates keeping his head high.
