Highly Contested Matchup - Riverwood vs. Sprayberry GHSA Boys'

A heated matchup between the Riverwood Raiders and the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets ended 1-0. The Raiders managed to hold on to an early lead with questionable refereeing and threatening counter attacks from the Jackets.   This game saw everything from yellow cards to brash tackles, fans being kicked out, and even an overturned penalty towards the end! It had fans on the edge of their seats, biting their nails.    A great carrier of the ball, Sylvain is dangerous when on it. Fast, physical, and tidy, he does a good job of getting the ball up the field and creating golden scoring opportunities; keeping the ball close to his feet. He is aggressive in his play, constantly battling to win the ball back and looking to take players on, and uses his body very well to hold players off or to win the ball. Sylvain possesses good awareness and distribution skills, picking his head up, looking spread field, and playing through balls. Sylvain plays an integral part in his side, providing a clinical and dynamic approach to their game.     A fast, physical, and aggressive left-back, Okoeguale is a menace for opposition forwards. He likes to go up the field and carries the ball well. He is quick to drop back and help the defense. Strong and tall, winning the ball off him is easier said than done, using his stature to hold opposition players or to bully his way through them. He is very aware, knowing when its best to go and step up and when to just stay back and hold the defensive line. Okoeguale is great defender, helping solidify that back line, whilst having great qualities that make him very effective offensively as well.     Remick is a very talented player. Playing more in that right-back position, Eckardt is a valuable player for his team. Fast and has a no-nonsense approach, he is very effective, making last-ditch tackles, and isn't afraid of getting rough and physical. He does a great job of tracking back and reading play, knowing when it's best to step up and press. Always aware, he covers the space the well, when one steps up, he covers. Eckardt has a great work-ethic, playing for the team and not himself, doing whatever it takes to win.     Crowe is what you would imagine a modern center-back would be: fast, physical, possessing good passing and ball control skills, and likes to carry the ball up the field. He is calm on the ball, never forcing the play and always looking for the best option. His awareness and distribution allow him play great and effective ball for the forwards and to open up the field. Crowe stands his ground and reads the game as well as players well, anticipating and doing well to time his tackles. Crowe is a true captain and modern center, instilling confidence and strength to his side when taking to the field.     A captain for his team, Cooper is a leader on and off the pitch. Vocal and commanding, Cooper strengthens the back line and even the midfield, giving instructions and helping organize the team. He is tall, strong, and quick on his feet, reacting quickly, making and timing tackles well. Cooper reads the game well, always thinking and astute. He is also very good and calm on the ball, keeping it simple and playing to feet. Overall Cooper is invaluable and a key play in his sides defense and overall play.
