Preseason Match: Randleman HS vs West Davidson HS

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><a href="https://www.maxpreps.com/nc/lexington/west-davidson-dragons/soccer/girls/spring/schedule/">West Davidson High School</a> is one of the teams I noted as one to watch in a previous <a href="https://prepsoccer.com/2025/02/girls-high-school-season-preview-1a-2a/">article</a>, and they proved why this past Monday. In a preseason friendly, they visited <a href="https://www.maxpreps.com/nc/randleman/randleman-tigers/soccer/girls/spring/">Randleman High School</a> and blew past them 9-1. Though the score shows the clear dominance of one team over the other, Randleman did pose a challenge for the first 15 minutes. This includes some interesting individual performances. However, once West Davidson got going they didn't stop. She likes to drift wide and stay central, helping her team move forward simply with her positioning. When she drifts wide, she looks very comfortable, making me think she can also do very well as a winger. This conclusion is also backed up by how agile she is. She can dribble past players as if they weren't there. Her ability to move the ball forward either this way, or through passes makes her a huge attacking asset. The through balls she plays cause constant danger. In a flat 4-4-2, she plays as the more attack-minded central midfielder, and she excels in this role. One of many of her great attributes is the way she carries the ball progressively. She skips past the opposing midfield seamlessly, helping progress the ball from the first third into the final third. If she's dribbling without travelling such a far distance, she'll still beat players for fun. Her movements into space are fantastic. These movements create both an easy passing lane for her teammates and leave her in fantastic positions to score from. When she receives the ball, she moves with remarkable ease. Whether it's through a drop of the shoulder, dribbling past defenders, or skills, she moves quickly and effectively. The way she moves on the ball isn't limited to plays outside the box, which adds to her impressive ability. She can do all that in the box with many defenders on her. She lends a helping hand to her teammates, either in or out of possession. Her passes are precise, finding players more often than not. Playing the ball quick is her strongest attribute, leaving no time for the opposing midfield to react.
