Top forwards to date - GHSA Season

As we approach the midway point in the season, let's take a look at some of the top forwards in Georgia High School Soccer who have put on some impressive performances this season.    One of the stars of this Chiefs team, Liam is an elite finisher in front of goal. His composure in front of net shows that he has the mentality and confidence in himself to finish off chances. He excels in the role of a target man forward, dropping into the midfield to create link-up plays and work the ball around defenders. Liam is also a threat in the air on any cross, especially corners, often leaping higher than defenders and directing his headed efforts on target. When I watched the Chiefs play against Pacelli, Liam scored a header, a one on one with a goalie, and a long ranged effort. A striker who simply puts balls in the back of the net.     Brayan is a young striker who uses his body to shield off defenders and create space for himself. Brayan uses his elite ability to create open spaces and fire one on goal. His skills with the ball at his feet also help, as he makes it really difficult for defenders to nab the ball off him or risk committing a foul when tackling him. When I watched the Red Elephants play against North Gwinnett, Brayan scored the game winning goal off a wonderful header following a cross. His attacking positioning and knowledge of where to be in the box was just as impressive as the thumping header itself, displaying how Brayan can not only open things up when on the ball, but also without the ball as well.     It wouldn't be a proper top forwards list without the leading scorer in the state. Jesus has been on nothing short of an absolute tear this season, scoring a staggering 27 goals with 4 assists in just 11 contests. The best attribute Jesus has is his technical abilities on the ball. When you watch him play, it is obvious that he has an abundance of natural talent for the game. He is well above average in regards to shooting, dribbling, physicality, passing, footwork, and most importantly, a high level of intelligence and reading of the game. Only a sophomore as well, Jesus is a very promising prospect that will be looked at very closely going forward and for his last 2 seasons in high school.     A very quick forward who possess some elite pace, Cooper is a master at getting in behind defenses. He frequently stays put with the center backs and looks to get in behind on long through balls from his teammates. He plays not only down the middle but makes runs out wide as well, and can deliver some nice crosses in when drifting out wide. In the game against Kell, Cooper was able to slip in behind the defense multiple times and score a couple breakaway goals, as well as assist a goal from a cross on the right side.     A player I mentioned previously in my preseason players to watch for article, Daris has certainly lived up to expectations his Junior year. A craft winger who looks to create chances for his team and rarely makes a mistake. He can dribble with both feet, and dribbles with a purpose, knowing where he wants to go with the ball. His vision has always looked up to par, playing with his head up and picking out open runs from his teammates. It is no surprise Daris leads his team in scoring and should continue to do so throughout the rest of the season.
