Dallas Cup: Day 2 Boys Standouts

One of the largest, most traditional and most anticipated tournaments of the club soccer season, the Dallas Cup is underway, with 450 boys and girls teams competing across five different venues in the Dallas area. The tournament will continue until Sunday, when the champions will be crowned.   Prep Soccer Texas is following the action on-site in Dallas, covering the top teams from the Lone Star State and also from other states in the U.S. territory as they face strong competition. On Monday, April 14, we went to both the Richland College and the Moneygram Soccer Park Venues, where we followed a handful of boys matches.   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li><a href="https://prepsoccer.com/2025/04/dallas-cup-boys-day-2-photos/">Dallas Cup: Boys Day 2 Photos</a></li> </ul>   More detailed coverage with positional standouts will follow in the weeks after the event, but here are some of the players who shone in the second day of action in Dallas:    Playing on the right side of [program_tooltip program_id='283624' first='Capital' last='City SC'] U15 MLS Next's midfield, Jaimes was unstoppable as his team defeated Canadian opponents Woodbridge Soccer Club 2010 5-1. Jaimes was electric on the ball and was a huge part of his team's offense. He was very difficult to stop because, although he was very quick on the ball, he also used his body very well. Jaimes made some good plays out wide, but was also dangerous when he brought the ball inside and, in one of those plays, he drew the free kick that he converted to score the team's second goal. A few minutes later, he scored another one on a beautiful header, getting off the ground very well and attacking the ball with a powerful finish. He also worked well off the ball, helping his team regain possession.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2025/04/2J4A0018.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-285193" /></figure>    Hagan had a tremendous defensive performance and helped his team [program_tooltip program_id='283639' first='Dallas' last='Hornets'] 08B Beta earn a 2-1 win over AC Brea B08 EA2. Playing as a central defender, he was huge for the Hornets in the second half of the match as they tried to preserve their lead. Hagan helped the team sustain the pressure and was dominant in the air, making countless heading clearances inside the box. He also handled some low crosses and blocked shots and was very effective too when he had to defend higher up on the field, keeping opponents under pressure.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2025/04/2J4A0078.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-285207" /></figure>    Playing as a left-side midfielder, Flores was one of the main offensive for AC Brea B08 EA2. His team had the ball almost the entire time in the second half of their 2-1 loss to the [program_tooltip program_id='283639' first='Dallas' last='Hornets'] 08B Beta and the left-footed playmaker was among their most dangerous players. Flores made some good runs on the left and sent many crosses into the penalty box, but his teammates couldn't capitalize on them. He also displayed great quality on the ball, connecting good passes in the final third and providing great service in set pieces.     McElfresh was very active up top for Hawaii Rush 09B East as his team came from behind to tie [program_tooltip program_id='283624' first='Capital' last='City SC'] U16 MLS Next 1-1. The forward was incredibly intense with his movement on and off the ball and demanded constant attention from opposing defenders. McElfresh was very quick and intelligent on the ball, making turns on defenders to drive it forward and combining very well with the player around him. He spent some time playing more centrally, and moved very well off the ball, consistently getting into good spots to finish chances, but was also very dangerous on the right, using his pace to beat defenders and create chances.     Reyes had an excellent shift at left back when his team [program_tooltip program_id='283624' first='Capital' last='City SC'] U16 MLS Next tied Hawaii Rush 09B East 1-1. He appeared very well on both sides of the ball and gave his team a lot of stability on the left side of the field. Reyes was very intelligent at picking the right moments to push forward, as almost every time he went up, he got open on the left. When the ball got to him in the final third, he displayed great quality to make crosses and find teammates with his passing. Reyes also thrived defensively, being very tough to beat in 1v1 duels and excelling at defending the far post in crosses, something outside backs of his age typically struggle with.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2025/04/2J4A0116.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-285215" /></figure>    Moreno guided his team [program_tooltip program_id='283311' first='Dallas' last='Texans'] Academy B08 ECNL to a solid 3-0 win over FBSL Tuzos Academy 08B Elite. The attacking midfielder had a central role in the team's offense and fulfilled it extremely well, consistently looking for the ball and getting into good spots to make plays in the final third. Moreno was excellent at beating opponents off the dribble and repeatedly drifted from the center to the left to combine with his teammates. He also contributed a lot in terms of creating goalscoring opportunities, sending accurate crosses into the box and firing dangerous shots on target.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2025/04/2J4A0138_7f585f.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-285218" /></figure>    Lee came off the bench halfway through the second half and played a key role as his team Solar SC 07/08 ECNL produced a late equalizer against Bermuda's Ceda Bridge Academy to tie 1-1. The midfielder had the confidence and the clarity to put the ball on the ground and make plays in a moment in which his team desperately tried to find the back of the net with crosses far away from the box and he managed to find his teammates in good spots in the final third with accurate passes. Lee was rewarded with the team's tying goal, which he scored after he picked up a rebound in the box and fired a powerful shot into the upper corner.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2025/04/2J4A0218_548b08.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-285248" /></figure>    Hallie was extremely active and efficient in his team's [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'] U15 MLS Next's 3-0 victory over Mexican opponents Global Sporting Club 2010. Playing on the left side of the team's attack, the winger was a constant threat with his pace and dribbling and was extremely successful in his offensive actions. Hallie scored Dallas' second goal in a play in which he brought the ball inside from the left and finished with a well-placed shot.
