Prep Soccer Texas was in attendance, and on Tuesday, April 15, we went to both the Richland College and the Ross Stewart Soccer Complex venues, where we followed many Girls' matches. With the tournament now concluded, we're featuring some of the players who made a strong impression in the matches we got to watch. Today, it's time we dive deep into the outside backs:

Villa stood out in the 3-0 victory of her team [program_tooltip program_id='283317' first='[program_tooltip program_id='280767' first='DKSC' last='']' last=''] 06/07G ENCL RL over [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'] White 07/06G ECNL RL NTX. With Dallas being down a player for most of the first half, [program_tooltip program_id='283317' first='[program_tooltip program_id='280767' first='DKSC' last='']' last=''] needed to stretch the field to make good use of their advantage, and the right back played her role efficiently, remaining wide and giving them an option on the right. Villa made some good runs down the line and in one of them assisted in the team's second goal with a well-placed cross. She also used her passing ability to help her team break Dallas' first line of pressure when they tried to press high, moving well off the ball and keeping the ball moving with first-time passes.

Gonzalez was with Legends FC San Bernardino G07 in their 2-1 victory over Cosmos FC Academy USC TX RL 07. Playing as a left back, she had mostly defensive duties with the team and was very efficient and consistent with her actions, dominating her area of the field. Gonzalez was very firm in duels and was on the winning side of most 1v1 duels she was involved. The defender also displayed great positioning and was always on the right spots to intercept diagonal passes coming from the left side of Cosmos' attack.

Valentine had a solid shift when her team [program_tooltip program_id='283499' first='Sting' last='Dallas'] Black G08 ECNL dominated [program_tooltip program_id='283444' first='Renegades' last='SC'] 08G ECNL RL TX to a 7-0 victory. She started the match in her original left back position and had a strong two-way performance. Valentine was very intelligent with her movement on the left side of Sting's attack, exploring the space extremely well and finding excellent passes in the final third. Still during the first half, she had to move to the right because of an injury to a teammate and continued to perform at a high level, having no issues passing and dribbling using her weaker right foot.

Reyna did great work in her team's [program_tooltip program_id='283311' first='Dallas' last='Texans'] 09G ECNL 9-0 victory over GLASA Dallas Legacy 09 Arroyo. She played a hybrid role, switching from left back to center back depending on the opponents' positioning, and displayed a high soccer IQ to execute it very well. Reyna used her positioning and her pace to stop Legacy's attempts on her side and didn't allow them to create anything during the match. She also did very well in possession, showing calm and composure on the ball to initiate plays with solid passing and even dribbling through traffic when needed. Reyna was moved up to midfield during the second half and displayed an interesting ability to contribute offensively, even appearing in the penalty box to finish a chance and almost score a goal.

Giametta had a solid shift at left back when her team [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'] 10G ECNL defeated [program_tooltip program_id='283317' first='[program_tooltip program_id='280767' first='DKSC' last='']' last=''] 10G ECNL RL 6-0. She was a constant presence in the attacking half for them, passing the ball well and dribbling it forward with great efficiency. Giametta also did good defensive work for Dallas, occasionally matching up with [program_tooltip program_id='283317' first='[program_tooltip program_id='280767' first='DKSC' last='']' last='']'s dangerous forward Jaylen Oubre and keeping her away from the penalty box.
