Five Elite Performances GHSA Boys - Pebblebrook vs Dalton

A tough match occurred Tuesday afternoon as the undefeated Dalton Catamounts traveled to face the Pebblebrook Falcons. The Falcons got off to a nice lead to start the match, banging in a couple quick goals. As the game went on though, Dalton began pushing for something. They got a goal and nearly a few equalizers, but fell short and lost 2-1. Here are some of the standouts from Tuesdays match, in which the Falcons knocked off the 0 in the loss column for the Catamounts this year.    The man of the match, Anderson was a wall at center back for the Falcons in this match. The defender thwarted lots of Daltons opportunities down the stretch and was very effective at making tackles and clearing the ball out of danger. Anderson is very composed and controlled when on the ball as well, maintaining possession well for his side. He times his challenges very well and is a presence in the air, getting his head on the end of lots of crosses into the box.     A skillful left winger, Angel caused lots of problems for the Catamounts down the left flank in the match. His first touch is brilliant, bringing down lots of long balls onto his foot with no problem. He also has these flick-ons to send his teammates in behind and catch defenders off-guard. Angel's dribbling is other worldly, getting past defenders with some very creative skill moves. He uses these skills to get the ball around defenders and into open space where he can use his pace to exploit open areas of the pitch.     An attacking center mid, Cristopher controls the game up front for the Falcons in a variety of different ways. His passing is crisp and clean, using his elite vision to pick out nice through balls to teammates. His dribbling skills are very impressive, using lots of cut backs and quick turns to avoid challenges and hold onto the ball. His finishing is very good as well, making the keeper work quite frequently to keep the ball out of the net. He can hit it with both his right and his left foot.     A defensive midfield, Chris is the player that does all the little things including the dirty work for his side. He is frequently getting challenges in, getting possession back and starting counter attacks. Without the ball, he pressures opposing midfielders and creates turnovers due to his pressure and presence. He times his challenges in the midfield very well, rarely not getting the ball won or fouling his opponent. He looks quite comfortable on the ball and in possession as well, picking out passes and taking the ball into open space going forward.     An extremely talented center attacking mid, Joseph looked the best player Tuesday afternoon for the Catamounts thanks to his incisive attacking play. Scoring the only goal in the game for the Catamounts (which was a beauty), Joseph played a large part in Dalton's attempted comeback by facilitating the game and getting balls into the box from open play and set pieces. His passing and crossing looked sharp out there, and he was moving the ball around the opponents third with precision in the second half. A very talented and smart player.
