College Commitments Scout Grades 2025

I have to give a big shout out to @myyouthsoccer Instagram page for keeping up with these names flying off the board. Incredible work.

It is all happening so fast this year. 2026 & 2027's are making their verbal commitments to different schools. I'd like to remind everyone that verbal commitments mean nothing until a letter of intent is signed. Players & Programs flip their verbal commitments all the time throughout this process. It's a very interesting time in American Youth Women's Soccer, as players seem to be more eager to commit to schools than in past years. Many without even going on a visit to the school. Is this good thing for the programs and the players? Only time will tell.

It's a fascinating system where kids can commit their futures to a program a whole 2 years before they step on campus. I will be giving out grades to recent verbal commitments. Please keep in mind if you are reading this and you didn't get the grade you wanted. Please keep in mind, if you have committed to play at a Division 1, 2 or 3 soccer program you are a great soccer player. Only 7% of high schooler do what you have the opportunity to do. These grades are based on overall fit, style of play/positional need of that particular program, and if I think the commitment will last 4-5 years.

I also encourage players to make their highlight reel easy to access for scouts to evaluate on your social media profiles.

Oregon State got themselves a great pick-up in Garry. She is a great target forward out of Phoenix Rising. She has great speed and an efficient finisher. I think she will fit right in during her time in Beaverton and it will be one that lasts.

Scout Grade: A

The Utah Royals gain themselves another D1 commit to their ranks. Beede is headed to Milwaukee next year. I think coming from the heat of Arizona to the cold of Wisconsin will be a big adjustment. But if that can be overcome it looks like a fit with a lot of potential as Milwaukee definitely has a need in midfield moving forward.

Scout Grade: B-

Hughes is headed to the Minnesota Golden Gophers in 2027. Cleveland Force have produced another talented attacking player headed to a Division 1 program. The Gophers are flying this season at 4-1-0 and the news of Hughes committing must have been another big win off the field.

Scout Grade: B

Coming from the defending National Champions MVLA 2009 team Makasini just committed to a top SEC program in Kentucky. Very technically sound midfielder who can make a huge impact on both ends. The physicality and style of play in the SEC will be a monster difference but great players figure it out and Makasini is just that.

Scout Grade: A-

Hyden is headed to Valparaiso University in 2027. She is a solid defender who is an impressive when making a tackle as her timing is excellent. Good on the ball and definitely room to grow/improve when she arrives on campus. Looking at the teams it looks to be a very difficult conference. I think in this new league with a smaller physical profile like Lorenzen she would thrive best at the 10 position. Difficult to compete at a high level otherwise. From what I'm told she is very capable of playing that role but it all depends on what the coaches do with her.

Scout Grade: C+
