Five Midfielders to Know from the Updated Texas 2026 Boys Ranking

<p>After some months, the Prep Soccer 2026 Texas Boys State Rankings were updated last week, with new players being added to the prestigious list that features only the best of the best in the Lone Star State and the existing ones having their positions adjusted.</p>   <p>The ranking will continue to be consistently updated so it accurately reflects the progress achieved by players over time and presents a clear picture of the Texas landscape, always having in mind each prospect's potential to make an impact at teh next level.</p>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li><strong><a href="https://prepsoccer.com/texas/rankings/boys/2026-rankings/">Texas 2026 Boys State Rankings</a></strong></li> </ul>   <p>The updated Texas 2026 Boys State Rankings now feature 115 players from every corner of the Lone Star State, and we're taking the week to present you with some of the most intriguing names that made the list.</p>   <p>In today's article, we feature five midfielders with serious potential to make an impact at the next level:</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Gitau is the top midfielder in the class according to our Rankings and is also ranked first overall in Texas. He's part of the [program_tooltip program_id='283657' first='Houston' last='Dynamo'] system and plays for their U19 team in the MLS Next league, but has been almost full-time with [program_tooltip program_id='283657' first='Houston' last='Dynamo'] II in MLS Next Pro, where he has 17 appearances (ten starts), with a goal and an assist so far. Gitau has a very complete skill set, which allows him to play different roles in midfield, and he's very smooth on the ball. When playing more centrally, Gitau typically takes charge of the team's playmaking, using his ability to break lines with passes or runs to progress the ball upfield. He plays for [program_tooltip program_id='283612' first='Austin' last='FC'] and has been a key piece in their II team in MLS Next Pro this season, having 23 appearances (20 starts), with four goals and four assists so far. He's a central midfielder who does a great job of getting involved in the game on both sides of the ball. Torres, who has received multiple USYNT call-ups this year, is excellent at scanning the field and popping up in good spots, consistently offering passing options to his teammates. He plays high school ball for Walnut Grove and is a key piece in Solar Academy SC's U19 team in the ECNL league, having earned a Player of the Year award in the Texas Conference last season. A central midfielder, Kutch is extremely well-rounded and does everything well on the field. His ability to view and execute progressive passes unlocks a lot of things offensively for his team and gives him the ability to play as an attacking midfielder, too. He's a part of Rockwall at the high school level and is now with the [program_tooltip program_id='283639' first='Dallas' last='Hornets'] U19 team in MLS Next. The son of former [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'] star Jeff Cassar, Luke operates as an attacking midfielder, tending to come from the left to the center to better use his preferred right foot. He combines well with his teammates and his passing vision sets up a lot of offensive plays for them. Cassar is probably one of the most talented players when it comes to dead-ball situations in the class and scores off of free kicks very frequently.</p>   <p><strong><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DF6Pnxcvv9l/">Highlights</a></strong></p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Oliveira takes 18th place among the midfielders in the class and ranks 35th overall in Texas among the 2026s. He's a key player for [program_tooltip program_id='283243' first='Albion' last='Hurricanes FC'] U19 team in the ECNL League and has appeared for their AHFC Royals side in USL too. He's a central midfielder with strong offensive tendencies, who does a great job of dictating his team's attacking rhythm with intelligent distribution and tremendous quality on the ball. Oliveira is very calm when in possession and consistently picks the right passes, making his team's game flow very smoothly.
