Paul VI, the No. 7-ranked team in the nation in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, comfortably defeated Trinity Hall, 3-0, on Thursday night to capture its second consecutive South Jersey Non-Public A title.

The Eagles will face Immaculate Heart in a rematch of the 2024 state final, which Paul VI won 1-0.

“It's so exciting. It's just what you live for in this game,” said Anderson, a 2002 Paul VI graduate. “I had the opportunity to play at a high level. Once you're done playing, that moment and everything you've always played for kind of goes away. To be able to come back to my school where I played at and to bring the joy that I know can come from this game back to these girls who earn it. All four titles here, I've had a hand in all four of them. One as a player, three as a coach.”

“(Winning another state title) would set school history,” she continued. “It would set the standard and expectations of what we're trying to do here for the soccer program since I've taken over. Us being successful, the players we're bringing in, it's putting the South Jersey girls on the map. It's what I promised I would always do once I got back into coaching.”

“We just really work as a team,” Kintzing said. “Everyone relies on each other, everyone has each other's back, and I think none of us would be able to do this by ourselves. This is really a team effort, and all of us together is just really what makes this team as good as we are.”

“It's really special. This team is really special. Going back-to-back, winning state championships would be amazing. I think we can do it.”

While the Eagles' offense may be impressive, their defense has played just as well. Paul VI has shut out all of its playoff opponents.

“Our defense is definitely the anchor to our attack, and they hold everything in the back,” Anderson said. “That back line, they've done phenomenal when the games matter. They make sure the alleviate any opportunities for teams to get back in it with us.”

Paul VI will attempt to win its second consecutive state title on Sunday, and according to Anderson, the Eagles couldn't be more ready.

“I think we're eager and excited to get at it,” she said. “We're strong as a team this year, and we're going into (the state final) as a really strong, mentally focused team. I'm looking forward to that rematch.”
