[player_tooltip player_id='270809' first='Eleanor' last='Lawyer']'s go-ahead, game-winning goal with 8:13 remaining lifted No. 7 nationally ranked Paul VI past Immaculate Heart, 1-0, as the Eagles won their second straight NJSIAA Non-Public A state title on Sunday night at Franklin High School.

“Once I hit it, I knew it was going in,” Lawyer said. “Even after it went in, I was like, ‘I can't believe that just happened.' As soon as the ball had one bounce, I knew I just had to hit it. I had the wind. I just had to make good contact, and I was able to.”

https://twitter.com/tortreports/status/1990203787835793543?s=46

The junior's goal came on a pass from Catherine Aversa, and Lawyer hit a beauty to the right corner of the net to fittingly cap off a perfect 24-0 season for Paul VI.

“This is just the cap off to the testament of the team we had,” Coach Karen Anderson said. “We've been really putting in a lot of work since the group that's come in. The junior class, when they came in, I knew we were going to have a solid squad. We had to keep grinding it out, and this is the product that we have. A lot of dedicated players keeping the standard for the last two-three years.”

“We get these types of results. We just belong to be in these types of games.”

https://twitter.com/tortreports/status/1990248352135446957?s=46

It's a full-circle moment for the 2002 Paul VI graduate, who has been a part of every title in the program's history. Anderson was a member of the Eagles' 1999 South Jersey title-winning team as a player.

“At this point, I feel like my job (is to) and what I've done is to put the South Jersey girls on the map,” she said. “When I played, it was always a battle against North Jersey.”

[player_tooltip player_id='270809' first='Eleanor' last='Lawyer'] looks on during the NJSIAA Non-Public A state championship game between Paul VI and Immaculate Heart at Franklin High School on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025.

Paul VI will return much of its loaded roster, including Lawyer and the team's leading scorer, [player_tooltip player_id='270807' first='Hunter' last='Kintzing']. However, the Eagles will lose arguably the best female athlete in the state, [player_tooltip player_id='99981' first='Emma' last='McCarthy'], as well as University of Miami commit Daniela Vogel.

McCarthy, a University of North Carolina commit for lacrosse, made a huge offensive impact for the Eagles. Her highlight of the fall came when she netted the game-winning goal in overtime to power Paul VI to a 3-2 comeback triumph over Shawnee in the Coaches Cup final on Nov. 1.

“It's so emotional. My tears right now are both happy and sad,” McCarthy said. “Playing for this program has been such a privilege. If I could, I would do it a thousand times over. This experience has just been so special. Coming to PVI was the best decision I could've made.”

“This high school experience of mine has been nothing short of amazing,” she continued. “I can't stress enough how special this place is, and it's the people that make the place. Our coaching staff is incredible, and the girls alongside you are your best friends. You don't get that anywhere else.”

The Eagles had quite the season, accomplishing everything they could've possibly imagined.

“Before the season starts, we write out what we want to accomplish,” Lawyer said. “And we were able to accomplish everything.”
