Uncommitted Talent on the Rise in Illinois 2027 Ranking

This is one of the strongest classes in Illinois history with Youth National Team players, All-Americans, and dozens of verbal commitments to the best college soccer programs highlighting the group. There is a lot of depth in this class as well including a number of players who remain uncommitted as the club season heads into the showcase events. Check out a scouting report on some of the uncommitted talent that recently stood out to scouts.    Hughes is a forward on the [program_tooltip program_id='283453' first='Rockford' last='Raptors'] 09 ECNL RL team. She is a prototypical No. 9. Perhaps the most promising prospect among the uncommitted group in Illinois. Hughes has all the tools to be a college striker. She's been in top form this season too. She uses her skill, strength, and finisher's instincts to be one of the top goal scorers from ECNL RL action through the first few months. If being a dominant player at the club level is the requirement for a scout, she fits that criteria and looks to only be pushing herself to be a better player with each passing day. Hughes should be getting looks from programs looking for an early contributor at the center forward position.     Schilf is a midfielder/defender on the Evolution 09 ECNL RL team. She was previously called into a US Soccer Talent ID Center. Schilf has experience playing as a center midfielder, center back, and now outside back at a high level in the club game. She was also a breakout star at the high school level last season. The potential is limitless as a versatile contributor for the next level. Her play at left back this season has been excellent. It allows a lot of her best attributes to shine including her soccer smarts and competitiveness.     Presberg is a defender on the [program_tooltip program_id='337296' first='FC' last='1974 Libertyville'] 09 ECNL RL team. She was recently part of the US Soccer Talent ID event. She has also been a two-time ECNL All-Regional League selection. She plays right back for her club team. There is a lot to like from the game film. She looks like the most college-ready prospect in the ECNL RL from Illinois. She is an attacking outside back who plays with a lot of confidence on the ball. Her speed of play is impressive at the youth level. She processes the game quicker than most in this class, which is a strong sign of success for the next level. Presberg pops up on highlights for her contributions in the attack. She can hit an excellent cross. She also gets a few shots on goal during the game. Presberg offers a full package from a right back in this class.     Wollenberg has consistently been one of the top players on the [program_tooltip program_id='283453' first='Rockford' last='Raptors'] 09 ECNL RL team, which has qualified for the playoffs once again. Wollenberg's contributions all over the field are a main reason for the squad's success. Individually, Wollenberg is a whirling force of action on the field. She wins all of her duels and loves to compete in the 1v1 battles. She is a versatile player who could feature as a midfielder or a winger. Wollenberg's ability in the press to react quickly and win the ball cleanly could be utilized early on as a super sub type of role. She is a good finisher and efficient in front of the goal. Scouts would be wise to give her a look for any available spots in the 2027 class.     Clousing is an attacking midfielder on the Wheaton United 08 (U19) Girls Academy team. She can play in the midfield or on the wing. Her best strength is her quality on the ball. She likes to create off the dribble. She's keeps close control of the ball and utilizes change of pave and direction really well. Clousing is a playmaker and creates chances for her team. She's a focal point of the attack. She has a good first touch and can play out of pressure against bigger opponents. Her highlight reel is dated, but her game film recently has been strong. She's also been a starter on varsity since her freshman season and should be a key player at that level during this campaign.     Gunning is a goalkeeper on the [program_tooltip program_id='283630' first='Chicago' last='[program_tooltip program_id='283346' first='FC' last='United']'] U17 squad, which recently won the state championship. She was awarded MVP of the event for her play. She missed the final due to injury. Gunning is a terrific shot-stopper. She is quick, understands angles, and fearless in the big moments. She is not the tallest goalkeeper, but she plays to her strengths and makes saves that many goalkeepers couldn't even dream of pulling off. Gunning has been a goalkeeper on a back-to-back state championship team. The contributions to a top club team should be noted by local scouts.     Suess is a versatile wide player on the [program_tooltip program_id='283453' first='Rockford' last='Raptors'] 09 ECNL RL. She was named to the ECNL All-Regional Team for the 2024/2025 season. Suess' best attribute is her well-rounded game. She does a bit of everything. She lists winger or midfielder as her positions on her profile. She's an excellent defender too. There is reason to believe she could feature as an outside back in the future. The way she wins 1v1 situations and creates chances in the final third would be quite the asset in that role. Suess' soccer smarts and well rounded game makes a promising prospect from the 2027 group.     Phommanchanh is a midfielder on the [program_tooltip program_id='283453' first='Rockford' last='Raptors'] 09 ECNL-RL team. She can play any spot in the midfield. She has played with the club's ECNL team in the past as well. The technical quality of her game shines in recent outings. She is clean on the ball with an excellent first touch and plays with her head up. There isn't an updated highlight reel for her readily available, but her game film backs up the claim as one of the best midfielders in the ECNL RL in terms of technical ability. She would be a great fit for a possession dominant college program that needs a midfielder that can progress the ball up the field and develop into an elite playmaker.
